AAU is about research dollars. In academic circles, classroom and research
are different sides of the same coin. Many profs focus on research and learve classroom to GA and others. Is it really a sign of top academics. In't Sony Brook and University of Buffalo AAU.

THe Big 10 has a history with USE/UCLA and Pac10
playing every year in the Rose Bowl. The SEC does not have the same relationship with the Pac 10

What would it take for us to vote to dissolve the ACC
BIG 10 promises to take 4 ACC schools including UVA
SEC takes promises to take 4 ACC schools including VT
Would Whit or Sands vote to dissolve GOR because in this scenario the golden handcuffs are removed.
Would we vote to get them removed and join the SEC.

The reason Maryland might be appealing: a local school would give the Big Ten a better case to get its network on âbasicâ cable packages in and around Baltimore and Washington. Therefore, the conference could charge cable companies more for each home that receives the network in a market in which it has a member school than it can for homes that are out-of-market.

1.3 million watch vt each week on tv. way more than UVA and MD. Not all DC.

I ran marketing for
division of a public company for decases
rvenue was minimal from those states. Plus Bi 12 territory. I owa qho carea. Minnsota. Indana
small stest, 80$ of our rewvwnue was from the largest cities and states. The rest, I ran the numbers by metro and state, but when it came to growing revenue. I would draw a huge circle in the middle of the country. Leave out Texas. Down to Alabama and go "wasterland". Very litte revenue.

that future SEC and Big 10 contracts will be $100 million "per team" "per school" "erprogram"
tjat is 1/6 billion. Nothing has been negotiated or signed. Where is thisnumber coming from for a "future" TV cntract. I have a hard time seeing ESPAN paying $100M for vandy, maryland, rutger. missouri with cost cutting pressure and lower viewship

the next round will be a fight between the Big 10 and SEC for VA/NC 2 FLA
qwill the SEC fight for Southern dominance. Will the Big 10 attempt to cut into their core territory and become truly national.
Going UVA/UNC/Clemson/Ga Tech/FSU/Miami plus ND or Wash/Oregon
or does the SEC lock it down
VT/UVA/UNC/NC State/Clemson/Florida State plus Miami, Ga Tech,and maybe OK State and WVU

No one wants VT in the SEC because if Hampton Roads recruiting picks up
again and another Mike Vick shows up. The SEC will lose advantage in recruiting and have to play the recruits. VT has shown twice they will take advantage of opportunities presented by new money or a new league to raise their game. First in the Big East then the ACC. They stepped up both times from unwanted invitees crashing the party to conference champion. UVS]A is no threat to SEC dominance of Virginia recruiting and it another easy win ala South Carolina. Missouri. They are no threat to Georgia, Florida or Tennessee winning the East

So tge entire college football landscape is going to be fighting over the
powerhouse UVA and send VirginiaTech to the AAC or Big 12
Because UVA owns the Virginia market. VIrginia Tech has only Blackburg. The SEC abd Big 10 will collide one day in VA and NC to complete the regional (South) or Natiowide (Big 10) vision of both cofereces
But neither conferebce wabts tge bigger school. Both wabt the hstiry and prestiige of UVA football

Why does South Carolina have value
Because the games they play against big SEC teams. Before then, South Carolina was on par with VT. So I you add some schools to these leagues, their value will increase. Same with Arkansas. and Missouri. Thy were Texas Tech and Oklahoma State - no different.
Now being in the SEC with those matchups, their value has increased. Not the same with the Big 10
Maryland and Rutgers have gained no value
Nebraska has lost value IMHO
Penn State has remained about the same IMHO
SEC ads value
Big 10. You got to bring it yourself, the match up do not add as much value.
Penn State / Maryland is still Penn State / Maryland. A local game.

Remember the 70s and 80s appply today
Rose was Big 10 vs Pac 10
Sugar was SEC
Orange was Big 8
ACC was locaked out of national championship
with one exception
Sugar and Orange had one slot for a Wilcard
Which gave rise to Clemson, Miami, Penn State, and Florida State to national prominance. Until then PSU had a lane type stadium. Florida State was closer to James Madison before Bowden, it was a girl's school. And Maimi did not win
ACC did not have a New Year's Bowl Tie In. But Clemson got the Orange Bowl bid.
College Football grew because it allowed new powers to have access and split the TV money.
The problem now is the conferences have gotten involved
The money use to be between the networks, the bowls, and the schools
We need to blow up the conference, just have Power 50 footbal with 50 teams and put them in new PODS. Eliminate the SEC and Hig 10. Use the brands to name the PODs. get rid of the tntity for a new one

You can make an argument, Vt joining the SEC
is cloest to becoming SEC ready due to their commitment to the sport and the past two times they joined a league. They got better. And won the league. Can't say that about Miami.

One BIG factor in VT's favor
1) They joined the Big East and won. Took advantage of the opportunity
2) They joined the ACC and won (until Foo)
So twice they joined a conference and used it to get better
So if they join the SEC, the extra money they know and have the market to take advantage of the opprtunity and have proven twice they know how to do it.

and locak the Big 10 out was two ist of four
1) Florida State
2) Clemson
2) UVA
4) UNC

1) Oklahoma State
2) Virginia Tech
3) Miami
4) West Virginia - switch out for NC state
Now other than Georgia Tech - SEC owns the entire south and their entire footprint
