Slim pickings after him looking at the portal
Hope we're targeting Soldano. Anyone see any other exciting names that I missed?

I had a feeling
Once he removed that VT picture, I had a feeling it was looking bad. I was still hopeful but man, this one hurts. He woulda been a stud at 184.

Stings. I read that the opposite way
Thought he didn't want the VT pic tipping his hand. Soldano or somebody not currently in the portal would be a good add. I don't want Burton to be forced to skip a RS if he needs it.

I'm of the mindset now to not worry about redshirting. Kids move in and out
of the programs with ease now. Virtually no guarantees that the top guys will actually stick around for the full 4 years of eligibility. The time has come for programs to use them while they have them.

Especially while you are paying them.
Can’t afford to have guys sitting on the sidelines.

If Burton is ready from day 1 then he should start
No guarantee he is though transitioning to college at a bigger weight. Him and Seidel do seem the most ready and will get a legit chance IMO.

My concern is if he will be big enough
I think wrestling wise he should be able to be ready by ACCT time, but going from wrestling highschool 175 pounders to college 184 pounders is a big jump in horse power. Would be nice to get a look at him at junior US open, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. If coaches could figure out how to get someone like Kharchla, Aeillo, Ruth or someone in to train with TJ and see if that would entice him to stay that would be nice. Even if it’s for a year for TJ to rebound and build his stock back up.

Or maybe Gage Wright moves to 184 and Burton at 174.
I seem to remember Gage being projected at 174/184 coming out of high school, and with the whole off season to prepare he could be fine. It's hard to judge who's making big cuts to get to weight and for whom bumping a class would be fine - maybe even beneficial.

Both guys are probably big enough for 184 eventually but best weight is 174
Gage was making 165 last November. Burton doesn't cut much to make 174.

Well, it's a given one of them moves up.

Gage looks like the perfect build for 174
Would hate to see him give up a massive strength advantage moving up to 184 bc we can’t get anyone
