Two more hires coming

Another one at some point this week. The other in a few weeks

:)

No Whit No Sands No Ballein The Golden Era is upon us

Yes this is what I meant

He’s not AA level and would be the weakest spot on the team

165

Getting kind of worried that we will roll with Church or Weader. Portal options have become slime pickins. Church isn’t AA level, Weader can score but we don’t know exactly how much he’s improved. Would hate to have a weak spot at 165 again. 184 seems like Desiante and TJ competing for the spot and that’s certainly an upgrade. Sergio had a hard cut to 174. He would start out super hot then gas out. 184 might be a good move for him. ** Edited by OGHookie at 4/20/2026, 10:34:11 PM

I’ve been following since the late 90’s

Back when the program wasn’t what it is today. It’s nice to see what it’s grown into

Hearing buzz around either Eric Thompson or Ty Walz being the heavy coach

Either is a home run Also sounds like they are trying to bring in a big name at the SERTC

Burton goes 174

Sergio either goes up to 184 or we get someone in the portal. Sergio’s gas tank took a hit with that cut. You could see him fall off in the 3rd period a lot

Carter Schubert is visiting today

Made the blood rounds and has two years of eligibility left

I think Miller will end up at 157

Miller and Church will have to push each other and compete for that spot

UVA winning is worse for the ACC

Mostly due to the fact that they cannot be the face of ACC Football. Thats a horrible look

Why would you ever root for and acknowledge the rival?

They had the easiest schedule in the country. We better kick them back down to where they belong next year. I hope they never win another game

Maybe TJ should’ve went to class more

He just didn’t take things seriously and regressed because of it

Some of what I’ve heard

VT is looking to take a mid season transfer at 174 or 184. Bullock and Desiante have been underwhelming We are in the driver’s seat for Knox. He would be able to learn and mature under Eddie for a year and that would probably work out of well Miller is working his way back now. Knocking off the injury rust and will hit some tournaments to do so Gage Wright should be good to go for the second semester

Hearing O’Farrill is going to be a Hokie

Konopka is trending towards the Hokies as well. Great time to be a VT fan

Gage Wright will be back in January

I’m very disappointed in Bullock and haven’t seen much out of Desiante either. Hopefully he can push for one of those spots and take off running

It does affect us

Mostly bc where ever these big fish hire from will have an opening due to that. Then they are probably on our level of shopping for similar coaches

That’s how we ended up with Pry over Elko

Prioritizing a culture hire over the quality of the candidate and resume is the issue

Without some changes I would not expect it to be Shane

He absolutely hates Whit Babcock and has made it very known that he would never come if Whit is the AD. So unless they find a way to move Whit out, I don’t expect Shane Beamer to be the hire

Appears to be chaos and clutter in the board room

The original target to replace Whit turned the job down. They should hear from the next candidate today and have some news next week. That appears to be why they pushed the whit presser to next week. Whit is being a disgruntled employee right now. The BOV was laughing at him saying he was going to enjoy his 13th year on the Roth interview. Whit is trying to muddy the waters as much as he can but he is very much being shown the door

Expect some news on Whit leaving Friday or Monday

I’ve heard he was out 10/9 for a while now from those within the walls. He has already been paid his buyout and severance. They have also been interviewing candidates for his replacement to be the CEO of Athletics. The CEO of Athletics will be the head of the Athletics Committee that was mentioned at the BOV meeting. GM final interviews have been going on this week as well. Jeff King was obviously a name mentioned. All of them are NFL front office guys including candidates from the Buccaneers and Colts. Have a great week

I don’t think it relates

You can’t Moneyball football when it comes to building a roster
