I’m guessing he will join the competition for 184?
I know he recently completed at 79 Kilos but I would imagine that 184 would make the most sense for him. Anyone have any insight?

He needs to get his headgear adjusted!
He adjusts his headgear almost every time he breaks the tie up. Every time his hand is on his headgear he is out of position to defend. I noticed this in the Friday night dual. It's something he can probably get away with against the majority of the field, but it can burn him against the elite guys.

Not overthinking it
When it’s crunch time I always want to make them beat me at my best position. I’m not saying he should choose top in that situation, but it is a big decision. We will know more about Seidel’s top game against elite competition by that time. As a coach the easy decision is to take down. Would take some big balls to take top, but scared money don’t make money lol

Hypothetical for Seidel…
NCAA Finals against any of the stud 133’s and they take neutral in the 2nd to avoid going under Seidel. It’s 0-0 going into the 3rd and it’s our choice. What’s the call? The norm would be to take down and get the escape to take the lead, but with Seidel’s elite top game you have to entertain the idea of taking top. If he gets the escape and takes the lead, he would have to avoid giving up a takedown as well as giving up a stalling point the rest of the period. Taking top puts him in his best position. A ride out wins a Natty! If you were in charge of making the call, what are you taking?

Hard to believe he is #8 with a gut like that
It looked like he had swallowed a bowling ball. Never seen anything like it.

Next year…
25 Eddie
33 Sidel/Campbell
41 Bo/Campbell/Goreman
49 Caleb/Goreman
57 Gaj
65 Nininger/Mac/Weader
74 Burton
84 G. Wright/Bullok/Transfer(Smith)
97 Sasso
285 Jimmy
Also would be happy with Noah at 57 and Gaj redshirting but my favorite line up is Gaj 57 & Noah 65.
This would be my ideal lineup for next year. I don’t think bringing Melvin in early is the best move for Melvin. We also need more competition for Sasso and Jimmy. Sasso was wrestling his best when he and Andy were battling for the starting spot. It seems to me that our wts that have legit battles for starting spots are the wts that are jumping levels the quickest. In my opinion NN has the frame to be a big 57 and could possibly even fill out enough for 65. This could help clear out the log jam for a while anyway. I really hope Gage Wright can get back in the mix. Curious what wt he will be if he makes it back into the mix

Do unattached results count towards season record/ ACC seeding criteria?
I would assume they do, but I got to thinking about this when I saw that Seidel was wrestling attached at Midlands. Since it was 2nd semester, he could have wrestled unattached and not burned one of his 5 dates. There has to be a reason he wrestled attached and the only thing i could come up with he wanted the wins to count towards his career record at VT or seeding criteria for ACC's ? Anyone have any info on this?

My prediction…
I think we see AS against Stanford, Oklahoma State, and NC State. That leaves him one spare date to go if we need him without burning his shirt. I’m not sure how all the seeding criteria works for the ACC tournament, but I would want DC to go in enough ACC duals to maintain a top 3 seed. I feel like DC can take the ACC title, but in an ideal scenario I would want to avoid Knox in the semis without giving NC state the easier path to the finals.

I’m not 100% sure but…
I think I read somewhere that you can’t wrestle “attached” for 2 schools in the same season. Almost positive Gabe wrestled in a dual for Iowa this season.

Midlands & Scuffle?
Anyone know when we will find out which guys we are sending to these tournaments?

What is the NCAA rule on in season transfers?
I think I read somewhere that you can’t wrestle attached for 2 teams in same season. If so this would eliminate Gabe Arnold since he wrestled in the dual last week. I’m curious who the transfer Willie was referring to is, even if he canceled his visit. I’m also curious if the possible transfer that canceled his visit is related to Frayer’s eyeballs tweet? I’m hoping that we still have an addition coming based on that teeet!

Weader need to stock up on groceries!
No need for him to cut to 165 anymore! I think his frame can hold some good weight.

I’m hoping Gage can get back in the mix at 184!
Anybody have any info on how he’s doing and what he is weighing?

Speculation the NCAA moves to 5 for 5 eligibility after 25-26
I know it is all speculation at this point and nothing will officially change until the NCAA takes action. With the possibility of the change taking place after the 25/26 season does that impact decisions with potential redshirts for this season? I know its not wise to focus on things we can't control, but from what I've read if the change is made after the 25/26 season and a true freshman redshirts the 25/26 season they will have 4 seasons left to compete. If a true freshman competes in the 25/26 season and the rule changes they could have 4 seasons left to compete. I'd hate to see our stud freshman redshirt this season and theoretically miss out on a "free" competition year. I imagine this would be super frustrating for coaches to navigate around this potential hurdle. Congrats on landing the big fish recently, and hoping to see more eyeballs soon!

I could be wrong but I think Gage
Will be better off not cutting much weight. Every wrestler is different and some can cut a bunch of weight and it benefits them, others not so much. I watched Gage wrestle several matches in high school and his style seems to me that he would be better suited not cutting much. He relies on strength and explosiveness which in my opinion don’t mix with cutting a bunch of weight. Bulking up to 184 might be best for him and the team.

Wonder what this will do for team morale for the Pack?
Obviously Fishback wasn't happy about it and I'd imagine this could rub some of his teammates the wrong way.

Wright or Burton big enough for 84 next season?
I’d prefer a one year rental, but we missed on our target (Dean). Wright was down at 65 early this season and I’ve read that Burton has never believed in cutting much weight so if he wasn’t cutting to make 75 hard to imagine he would be big enough for 84 next season. Would also prefer to redshirt Button next season.

Lenny Pinto from Nebraska in portal
I’m guessing he’s looking to get more money and will probably stay at Nebraska. But a decent one year option for 184 nonetheless.

Yes but…
I think Jimmy had him stuck before the ref got into position and the ref knew he missed the call so he then called it as soon as the shoulders touched.

Was fun while it lasted, but who’s our next best target?
Props to the coaching staff for maneuvering us into Bo’s top 4. Assuming we were offering Bo a pretty nice bag, we will now be able to allocate that cash towards other recruit's. Who are the top targets on our radar or on your personal wish list?

I call BS. You wouldn’t have the balls to say it to his face.
Getting frustrated as a fan is acceptable. Name calling our athletes is not. Keep your opinion to yourself if you can’t keep from name calling.

I'm not exactly sure we went after him hard.
Just my opinion, but if we are going to land the top guys, we have to be in the running for the top guys. Ferrari gets a lot of views/publicity and the press VT Wrestling got during his recruiting was a positive for the program. I think that process played out exactly how it needed to by VT getting good press during the process and Angelo going somewhere else. No inside knowledge here, but it wouldn't surprise me if the coaches threw out the red carpet for Angelo knowing that he would never commit to VT. He used us to get a bigger bag, and we used him and his media presence to help us land big time recruits in the future. Win for both sides. Just my opinion!

Obviously Sasso will be here but…
Will we have any depth behind Sasso if he gets dinged up? This weekend Missouri will wrestle a stud freshman off the bench due to injury. If we are in that same scenario next season who’s next man up at 197 for us? We have good depth at several wts this season, 197 and 285 especially, but what’s the depth look like next season at 197?

Could be a nice addition to this class!
Anyone know if we recruited him before he committed to ASU? Would be a nice addition to the Jersey pipeline. Do we have any depth at 197 after this season?

Speaking of brothers staying together…
It looks like Vince Bouzakis has de- committed to Ohio State. His brother Nic (sophomore) is the 133 for Ohio State. Timing of Vince de-committing and Blaze’s decision tomorrow is interesting to say the least! Blaze is #1 at 132.

I hear Arnold may not keep the spot.
Read that Kennedy gets the better of Arnold in the room. Most Orange fans want Arnold at 74 and Ferrari at 84. They have 4 good guys for 2 wts. Ferrari has a shirt available but supposedly he is the best of all 4 right now.

Just curious if that’s just your opinion, or do you have knowledge of how there scraps go in the room?
