Apparently we might be getting an addition/transfer second semester
Anyone know anything here? Potential name or weight? Maybe Gage would be considered an addition?

Would Gabe Arnold leave Iowa?
I don't know the second semester transfer rules, he was the just the first big name backup I thought of, and pretty good wrestler that could upgrade us at 84. He has already redshirted, and will never start unless Ferrari gets injured, no offense to Jaden. Bullock works hard but Gabe would be an upgrade. Gabe will get used in duals at Iowa, occasionally but has no path to start in front of a better and younger guy, and 3 years of eligibility. Maybe he cuts to 74 after Kennedy graduates would be his best path and maybe even better weight for him but just trying to think of backups that want to get in asap. PSU guys rarely leave but they have Nagao and Davis at 41 I believe. These would be lofty pickups but VT is a pretty big destination team these days. **After reading the below responses, if its a guy already here then Gage sounds right. ** Edited by VTwinsdad at 11/28/2025, 8:09:29 PM

That would be really interesting
Especially for next year. He hasn't quite lived up to his ranking, but he's 100% a threat to AA

A couple posters have implied Gage will return.
I think OGHookie is one. Check out his post history. Someone else has mentioned Gage, too.

It sounded more kind transfer when I heard it, but who knows
Willie's recent podcast is the source here btw. The idea of Bo enrolling early came up. That idea was dismissed, but he said he was pretty sure we would be adding someone second semester. ** Edited by Hikinghokie at 11/28/2025, 6:00:05 PM

I heard the podcast discussion and it definitely sounded like a transfer
They could have mentioned the name or just said it was someone already at Tech if that was the case ... just my two cents on what I think they were implying.

Big transfer cancelled visit this weekend… so that stinks. Most likely the guy Willie talking about.

Wonder if we pursue anyone else. Options are definitely limited for a midseason transfer

Ryder Rogotzke is a guy that could use a change of scenery imo
Redshirting right now, but not much of a path to starting going forward. Obviously Gabe mentioned above would be great. Sawyer Bartelt has a shot to start next year, but is losing a year beind Dean this year at Iowa State. I don't think any of these are super realistic. Just names that jumped out where guys are good enough to start but aren't.

What is the NCAA rule on in season transfers?
I think I read somewhere that you can’t wrestle attached for 2 teams in same season. If so this would eliminate Gabe Arnold since he wrestled in the dual last week. I’m curious who the transfer Willie was referring to is, even if he canceled his visit. I’m also curious if the possible transfer that canceled his visit is related to Frayer’s eyeballs tweet? I’m hoping that we still have an addition coming based on that teeet!

No idea
Owen Trephan was a midseason transfer last year that AAed. I think he was a graduate transfer, and that NC State actually helped him find a new home where he could start. He only completed in Opens before transferring. Seems like it would be tampering if they weren't in the portal, but maybe okay with the cooperation from both staffs. Can't imagine Brands helping someone transfer to VT, but could see it with Dresser or Ryan.

Hard to imagine anyone that could upgrade our team is
available as a mid-season transfer. But Gage Wright becoming eligible could be a welcomed upgrade. 174 & 184 are underpowered right now.
