The rumor is that FSU has found a flaw in the GOR wording
The 4 who voted no may already be planning an exit. But who knows? Out of our control so what does it matter? Not sure we are in a strong position anyway.

The “flaw” is that GOR does not apply to away games or neutral site games. Something about how much their away games are worth. Pretty ridiculous to even address every bit of it but he seems to be treating FSU away games as some new windfall for the conference ignoring the fact that if FSU wasn’t playing someone else would be.

Schools can't sign away rights to games they don't own. DUH! No visiting team owns rights to games played at a home team's field.

schedules to all away and neutral site games? Would suck for the students attending games, but there are ways around that with bussing. But say VT agreed to play all home games at FedEx field. Those are neutral site and out of the GOR. Of course, there is the idea that VT would be operating in bad faith, but I am not a lawyer so I don't know how that argument would go

So, if UNC and NCSU joined the B1G. And they played their conference games
at each other's stadium 25 miles away from one another, they would only owe the ACC the exit fee and no money from media rights? That would be a "neutral site" game, no?
I'm not sure if that's what they are saying here. But it sounds like it.

it seemed to focus on the value of away games being there for the B1G.
But digging into neutral more I suppose a schedule could be:
- Most/all B1G “home” games somewhere in the proximity of Tallahassee.
- Couple “buy” true home games for the fans.
Seems that would be challenged in court.
You’d lose home game revenue but cheaper than GOR buyout.

at least not one of any size that could hold more than 10,000 people. Outside of Tallahassee there's not much for at least 100 miles in any direction

Their stadium seats 20k, but they’ve had a couple of games over 30k.
FSU may be crazy enough to do this, plus sprinkle games in Jacksonville, Orlando and Tampa at NFL stadiums.

Even if FSU would try/offer this, would the B1G or SEC even want a
decade's worth of neutral site games. This lasted scheme seems quite flimsy.
Also, isn't it expressed or implied in the GOR that being a conference member means playing road games against your actual conference mates? Seems nuts.

And all ACC Conference road games for FSU. No out of conference road games. What is FSU considering playing no home games in any sport. Not sure I see the logic in that. Also don't see any other conference adding FSU in that scenario.

Pay the exit fee and get out. Replace them with FAMU. At least halftimes will be more entertaining.

I'd rather have the ACC in Tampa than Tallahassee anyway. It's been proven that the UCF/USF schools are capable of being just as strong as FSU, and USF has announced their plans for a new stadium on campus. I'm not sure where FSU goes. Florida blocks them from SEC, and they are not anywhere close to AAU making a Big Ten invite iffy. The Big Ten will prefer Miami because of AAU.

They are on a separate wold.
I just want to let them 1) put the letter in, and 2) a day later a memo from the ACC to them saying thank you for your letter, because of that you immediately will not be getting any ACC revenue until separation is completed and a check for 100,000,000 is written to the acc. They will not get 1) money from TV rights, 2) money from an acc championship (if they are there) and no money from bowls. Lets see how they struggle.
Then the ACC owns the rights and if they leave, ACC still owns their rights, and its up the conference resolve the disposition, and they can chose to not settle......
Couldn't be happier proceedings to some the most VILE nasty university cradle to grave in college football.. No values or principles. Just nasty folks.

Starting with $120M just as the ACC exit fee, and then add on their rights buyback of 12 years X $39M/year = $468M, so about $600M to leave with their tv rights after 23-24.
If Texas wasn't going to pay more than 1 year of their GOR, there is no way that FSU can buy back 12 years of their rights.

Just do it this year and get things moving. Let’s not draw out this separation over years.
On the bright side, if this does go down soon, I have a good feeling that VT will come out just fine along with several others. 2 bing football brands with FSU and CU. Two new states with VA and NC. And then everyone else is more the maybe pile.

If so, I'm not sure why the UNC AD was scolding FSU in public earlier then.
The whole thing is just nuts.
Also, I find it hard to believe that UNC would go without UVa. But then again, backstabbing is in, decades of tradition are out.

Most likely discussed amongst themselves before voting no. Everyone is looking out for themselves. Look at the PAC 12 I am sure Stanford never thought Oregon and Washington would bolt for the big ten.
