Tudor Electric Football, Xmas 1978
The 2 sets of players that came with the set were the Broncos and Cowboys from the previous year’s Super Bowl (XII).

That was pretty cool for its day. I remember it well, but had forgotten
the name of it.

I was probably about 4yo. They were assembled by the fireplace into a 6-ft tall robot just like in the pic. Doesn't get much more magical on Christmas morning than being 3 ft tall, and getting a 6 ft tall robot.

I had that one and played for hours. I learned to "go to the net" with that
middle guy haha. Take the puck to the corner, hold it, then feed the middle guy charging to the net.

Very similar strategy...the middle guy could be deadly

A couple of Gilbert chemistry sets. Yeah, that was an early career goal.
From grades 6 thru 8 I assembled a laboratory bench of beakers and retorts and bunsen burners, plus all the little chemical jars. It all went to hell as soon as I took high school chemistry, which was completely beyond me.

They took all the fun chemicals out of later sets.

(1) Probably a 10 speed bicycle, followed by (2) a 3 speed "banana bike"
The deciding factor was how long I used them. Rode both of those for years...the banana bike until I outgrew it, then the 10 speed. ** Edited by EDGEMAN at 12/29/2025, 7:46:46 AM

Big wheel - tore up the basement with them, tore up the outside
Once we out grew them, we pull them with bikes until we blew out the back wheels.

1950’s Cadaco-Ellis Bas-Ket Real Action Basketball Board Game.
Played with a ping-pong ball that settled over a hole that had spring-lever that could shoot into a basket. First guy to 100 wins. One side 'worked' better than the other so when first guy gets to 50, switch sides. The guy behind at the half usually won because he got to score the most points on the 'good side".

Close second was ping pong table. In third place was 410 shotgun!! Age 11. Killed a bunch of quail with that shotgun. As did my son. And I hope my grandsons. Now that I think of it, move the 410 shotgun to number 1.
