Any of you late '60's Lizards remember a dining hall horror call Plantation
Turkey? It was a cube of cornbread with chunks of reprocessed turkey imbedded in it and covered with a white gravy-substance with the look, consistency and taste of wall paper paste. Damn kids are spoiled these days.

it became the best protein, sold everywhere, especially Costco. Then dirty jobs did a show about fish farms and you found out the reason it was so plentiful and cheap is that it was the fish they put in the last tank at the bottom of the hill below all the good fish in order to clean the water before it was discharged back into the river systems.
And we all know what runs downhill.
Wife began to refer to it as poo fish and it disappeared from our table pretty much overnight.

beef or pork or a combo--I actually thought it was ground horse meat. Sometimes the whole patty would be a breaded piece of gristle.

I also remember a guy from my floor getting broccoli with cheese sauce at Dietrich and finding a cockroach curled up in a floret of broccoli. That was probably 87 or 88

I think I learned pretty quickly though if you want to pack on pounds, that's the way to do it. Even to this day I think that's the point I crossed over from being a reedy thin kid to someone who needed to watch what he eats.
