Sands has to come out of hiding for homecoming tomorrow. Hope we boo the
hell out of him. Seems like he's trying to distance himself, but Whit was only allowed to be as negligent as he was because Sands let him.

But FFS, your envy is showing badly.
The facts surrounding Sands tenure will be measured in what he did for the UNIVERSITY not simply athletics. This appears to be hard to wrap your head around, but please grasp that our research spending has increased year-over-year by significant dollars and is measured close to half a billion dollars.
I love football too, but lets have a little perspective here.

A new page is being turned for the better with the recent BOV moves. Sands & Babcock are both short-termers, and will be gone soon enough

create a singular negative focus.
There are plenty of very successful VT sports, as they compete in one of the overall top conferences. It’s more than just football.
Although it certainly is the giant elephant in the room.

He studied (a) engineering at (b) Berkley. Neither screams "huge football fan."
Just saying...lol
He's "all in" on academics.

IF you really understand governance of VT, the BOV leads the university not the President. The President executes the vision and policies of the board.
The Board has spoke, and are now working behind the scenes to entirely reorganize VT athletics and its relationship, oversight with the BOV and President . Tim is doing exactly what he's been given direction on.
We WILL have a governance board made up of BOV members administration and alumni who will oversee the new athletic dept and ensure the university and athletics are all synced, and there is perforrmance.
THe existing way VT athletics is handled, its day to day operation, donation protocols and oversight of sports will change. But you cannot just fire everyone. Who processes the tickets, who cuts on the lights, etc.
Its all good, just cheer a VT win

I think Sands' expectation of Babcock was to not be a distraction. Very low bar, I know. In this case I think it was actually the job of the BOV to evaluate Babcock's performance. They finally got around to doing that.
