I met Rosser and his mom last fall when they came to a football game.
They also took in PK's after the game. Seemed like they were having a great time and heard we were in great position (as of last fall). There's some great competition for him however.

What? Hoos not on any of their lists?😁

Nope not at all!
Considering a brand new staff just started and had to rebuild an entire team they didn’t pay much attention to the 2026 class. And since Virginia is in such a down swing, they have only secured visits from 4 top 75 players in the 26 class in the 4 months Odom has been the coach…

Don't sleep on Ryan Odom...He and CMY make an excellent pair of coachly
representatives for the Commonwealth

I have always liked Odom. I looked at him as the future Hokie head man.
Because of his prior ties, etc. That being said, replacing Bennett with Odom has to be looked as a step down (though he’s an improvement over last year’s interim guy).

Both Oladotun and Rosser had parents that played at VT.
Oladotun: His father, Ibraheem Oladotun, played men's basketball for the Hokies from 1989-1991. Found a really neat feature on him from the Roanoke Times back in 1991 that I linked below. His son, Babatunde, is a legit prospect, too. Rosser: His mother, Stacy Rosser (formerly Stacy Brown), played women's basketball at Virginia Tech from 1993-97. Was 6-6 then. Her son, C.J., is an impressive talent. One or both would be a ridiculously impressive coup.

Dad Ibraheem
was my son's landlord in College Park a few years ago. Talk about a good business model- subdivide some old semi-dilapidated home within walking distance of campus into a dozen rooms - and then let the frat boys compete at outrageous rents (largely paid by parents like me) for a fraternity "satellite" home. Anyway, ole Buzz has the home town advantage over VT for this one.

Ibrahim said his time in Blacksburg were the best years of his life.
Now if we could just $tep up and reel him in....

I was at VT during ibraheems days.
There were always stories floating around that he hunted lions growing up. He was raw but fun to watch. Seem to remember he fouled a lot. I’ve got some black and white photos from my sports photog collection. I’ll dig some up and post.

Funny story about Ibrahim told by his coach Frankie Allen.
During halftime of a game, Coach Allen told the team that a certain player was killing them and they "can't let him score in the 2nd half". So in the 2nd half, Ibrahim was following this guy everywhere he went. During a timeout, Coach asked him what he was doing and Ibrahim said "You told us we can't let him score".

Knew about Ibrahim but was unaware about Rosser's mom ...
agree - either one is a program-changer for VT.

The only program changer is WHIT BABCOCK
It won’t happen. Never will. This Athletic department messed up big… at one of the most crucial times in sports. But a player commiting to vt just because of his legacy isn’t going to change anything. MBB has one of the worst budgets in the acc, worst facilities, and most outdated arenas. Decent NIL now but nowhere near enough to compete.

How do u explain this years crop of recruits and transfers?
I’m one for continuing to raise 🏀 allocation vs 🏈. Look what a good coach did with basic economic support this offseason.

The last good Vt basketball teams 21-23 were ranked 8th in ACC viewership.
Football has fallen out of the top 7… Thanks to a despicable hire in fuente. And so far a dud in Brent Pry….. BUT, Virginia Tech alumni, families, and the surrounding community loves and has a strong interest in basketball. Tech is going to be good this year and I would expect viewership to represent that once again. Mike Young is managing a program that is ≈3.6 million $ behind the ACC average. That’s completely ridiculous, and yet, his results continue to out do what he is given. What Whit did to Mike Young is completely embarrassing, as It’s a widely known fact that tech was very very close to the bottom of p4 in NIL for basketball. This year he was given more funds and as a result he lands the literal best Virginia Tech recruit in the last 15 years….

OK. I get it ...
Whit isn't perfect but I know him and he is a good guy who wants nothing but the best for VT sports. To put so much of the blame on Whit is ridiculous - there are dozens of factors working against him but I won't waste my breath defending him around here. All I will say is it is a hell of a lot easier to be an AD where resources aren't an issue like they are at VT. Although Maryland's AD figured out how to screw that up anyway. Everyone is entitled to their opinions so fire away. I have stayed out of this fray for years and will continue to do so.

It’s the current BOV, not Whit… ONLY after also giving credit to…
Various BOV members that gave millions…I know 3 of them…& sure there are others… The Whit bashers have more than likely either a. Not contributed squat to the program, or b. Can’t follow the logic that even if they did, it’s not enough and nor are the masses of Hokies contributing ample $’s, & c. Probably have little understanding that running an enterprise has many more moving parts than they may perhaps be able to comprehend. The bashers remind me of the parents on sidelines of kids sports belittling the players (kids) & coaches and volunteer umps/referees. ** Edited by HOKIEGOBBLE at 8/14/2025, 7:12:56 PM

Yea what a disaster with player losses…
It was no secret that a strategic decision was made that football gets the $’s….big mistake that goes all around, as that was not all on AD. BOV could have mattered.
