BB as a freshman, what is his ceiling?
It seems like BB is as polarizing as any wrestler in awhile. I see it as anytime BB is on the mat, he will likely be favored. That engine, his defense, the constant forward pressure, and every conceivable offensive move, BB is absolutely the real deal. I think all the noise is simply around his public love for Jesus, and some folks don't like it. As a wrestler, he is a NC contender at 141 or 149 today. The good news, he gets the chance to show ALL, next year. I could not be more excited.

Matscout Willie put him #1 at 141 for his first 2027 crystal ball.

I would put him as the favorite if Jax stays at 133
Seems like Vega is moving up. Stanich is a very tough matchup, but I think I like Bo there. I think he's improved more than Stanich since their freestyle matches. If Jax bumps, he probably deserves to be the favorite, but that's a fire matchup.

Bo vs Jax
My money would be on Bo should they meet at 141 next year. I believe based on this photo, that Jax is a bit taller. For whatever reason, it seems like Jax has always wrestled 1 or 2 weight classes lower, but I’m sure they have knocked heads several times in the practice room. I’m guessing, with his relentless pressure and snaps, Bo is a bad matchup for Jax. The few times I’ve seen Bo lose it is because he was overpowered a bit. Jax won’t be able to do that and he may already know that. I’d be very surprised if they are at the same weight next year. ** Edited by CTDad at 4/10/2026, 2:27:11 PM

They've definitely wrestled a ton
Them meeting in the finals would be a massive storyline with their popularity, success, and history together, and familiarity like that can lead to some funny results. I give Bo a great shot- but taking my Hokie lenses off, Jax has earned the right to be the favorite after making a senior world team and going undefeated as a freshman. Hopefully Bo can go make a senior team himself this offseason and add even more excitement to the potential matchup! I think him and Caleb both have really legitimate shots to make the team this year.

Polarizing? Every interview I’ve seen
with him he has been extremely polite and complimentary of his opponent. If anything he’s the opposite of polarizing.

Bo is the most mature high school interview for an athelete I've ever seen.
He is the real deal. I think it's his success and his social media influence + his dad promoting him. But, he's hard working, humble, and by all accounts, a great young man. His ceiling is an undefeated national champion as a freshman. That's obviously a tall order and some will depend on the competition, but he's got everything it takes.

That actually might be some of people's pushback. Most 19 year olds
aren't that polished in front of cameras and it can come across as overly coached/inauthentic. I think most of us kinda like it when TSL does those spotlights and the athletes are a little camerashy as that is much more relatable to how we all would have been as college students and most of us are still that way today.

How many people his age have had as many opportunities to improve their
public speaking and interview awareness/skills? He is smart, talented and motivated on and off the mat, meaning it is not surprising that he excels in many areas.

He does admittedly have a lot of haters
I don't think it's the religion either. I'm not religious myself, but would struggle to find issue with the way he expresses his own beliefs. He's consistently positive, humble, a and hard working. I think people are just jealous of his success, and don't like how he has embraced his popularity and use of social media. They attack anything they can, and for the most part, can't find anything better to insult than his age.

his detractors think he is already 20 years old wrestling high school kids
his detractors never really do any actual research so it's easy to do that.

Haters typically don't let facts get in their way.

The "Polarizing" has mostly do w/ his social media usage. Haven't seen
Note: Meant to directly reply to the "Polarizing" post above. a high school kid market himself quite like Bo. Expectedly, Bo will also have his critics as his popularity rises and he is seemingly everywhere in wrestling social media world. His family caught some flak for the Iowa decommitment, but I think that was more of the existing Bo critics using that for ammo. To be fair, most of the college wrestling world took some joy out of the decommitment, because it negatively impacted TnT and Iowa. Bo comes across very well in interviews and even neutrals have to admit is relentless style is fun to watch. ** Edited by VTDante at 4/10/2026, 9:31:06 AM

A lot of it goes back to the accusations against his dad with allegations of improper recruiting at Bishop McCort. They often point to how he was held back in middle school, is already 19 years old, yadda yadda. It is human nature to root against a dominating force in sports when it's not 'your' guy or team. He seems like an extremely well rounded, mature individual. His opponents seem to respect him and he will be a fantastic addition to our wrestling room. Sky's the limit. Do I think he is going to automatically come in and win four straight natty's? Probably not - but I'd bet him against the field to at least take one home to Tech during his career.

The fallacy with the argument made about his being held back a year…
etc. and that he's 1,9 is that he has been wrestling both older wrestlers and in higher weight classes

Yeah the age level world medalist sucks lmao
It's the dumbest argument. At 18 he was a junior world medalist. He has a lot of haters that are Iowa fans because he decommitted and PSU fans because he's a PA guy going elsewhere. The rest of his haters just don't like successful people.
