This season didn't unfold like he or VT fans wanted, but I had hoped he would come back strong next year to eventually AA next season.
Good luck TJ, except when you wrestle against VT.

They are doing what they think is best for themselves. Hope he finds what he’s looking for and has tremendous success.

But I'm definitely a bit upset. It's crazy to be mad at a kid for doing what they think is best for their future, but as a VT fan, it sure would be nice if they found success here

It’s all transactional at this point. Just enjoy and support them while they are here then welcome the new guys when they leave.
It’s not worth having any emotions over this as no one controls it. It’s a sad state but if I was an athlete I’d probably be in the portal every year. Though I wouldn’t leave a basketball team in the middle of an ncaa tourney.

Especially in an individual sport like wrestling, you get a bit invested in the athletes if you're a fan. I'm certainly not going to let that things ruin my day, but there's no way around it: I'm bummed.

Wish his well and future successes that don't come at the expense of the VT 184.
Our couching staff will git'erdone.
James is just a product of the system. Probably better for the kids in the long runs but man does it suck for the programs. If nothing else I hope he finds success at psu, and doesn't get stuck behind whatever other world beater or Olympic champion cael recruits next

Option 1 - 174 or 184 transfer and R-Fr Gage Wright as starters.
Option 2 - R-Fr Wright and True Fr Burton as starters.

This has been in the works for a while. Both sides are happy to cut ties I would imagine.

Wouldn't mind either, but Dean has more of an upward trajectory between the two.

Sounds like you'll be happy if we can close on him

And at this point, there aren't a ton of 184 portal options. Soldano hasn't developed the way you would have expected out of high school, but he's talented. A change of scenery might help, and he has a really fun style. Lots of pins. Like you, Dean would be my preference though.

VT may be searching for potential transfers for a number of weights including 133, 141, 165, and 174/184.

We almost certainly are entertaining portal guys at other weight classes but that post seemed to be a direct response about 184.

But this certainly solves the longer term problem of where Burton/Wright slot
