A discussion question: Is it safe to say that Coach Duffy has began her
recruiting at VT at a much higher level than the last head coach did? Discuss and please don't anyone get verclempt if you disagree with someone's opinion. It's just an off-season tidbit to keep all of us interested in the workings of the program!! Of course feel free to get upset with my opinion!!! :>)

less national attention. When she brings in a true center that can play, to go along with the 1,2 and 3/4's she has brought in and will continue to bring in, she will eventually make VT fans say, "Former women's basketball coach"???

one RS Sophomore, one sophomore, one RS Freshman and one incoming recruit (all of whom could have left). KB took the cream with him. Yes he raised the program to a higher level, but one with a lot of question marks. The players he left were higher level players than the ones he inherited but now we have a program requiring more highly rated players to be able to maintain the level that the program had reached, players that could choose among the better teams. That’s a tougher job than what he stepped into. It appears that Duffy is getting some highly rated recruits and transfers, but that’s due to her work at a critical time to be able to keep the program nearer to its recent level. The ones coming in now are doing so with a leap of faith. The ones KB brought in early were probably just grateful to get a D1 offer. Kudos to Duffy

But I expect us to, after all we were regular season champions just last year, we had a strong class scheduled to come in. Recruiting has to be at a high level to compete in the ACC, have to include portal recruiting in the mix to stay at the top

Missed the word “began” in your post. Probably but agree with post below FC
KB left us in a pretty good place relative to 8/9 years ago.

to do some big time recruiting to keep the 3 others. Obviously neither had a lot to work with when they arrived but it's possible both had equally rough beginnings.

When was the last time the WBB was coming off of a Final 4, and hosting
the regional piece of the NCAA tournament, twice? Need to look beyond the blocking and tackling of what needed to be done to build/rebuild, if you will. When Coach Duffy arrived on campus not only was the Virginia Tech brand across the country elevated, the fan base enthused, engaged and interested in our product, but the women’s game overall has been thrown into the limelight thanks to Caitlin Clark, and arguably to a lesser extent, Angel Reese, Cameron Brink, Liz Kitley and others. Duffy’s starting point, overall, is definitely above and beyond relative to when FCKB was hired.

Dunkenberger and continued to be a bottom feeder (with more chaos) by Wolff.
It took Brooks quite a few seasons to get to the top level of the ACC. So, Duffy is inheriting a much more visible program with some respectable talent still in place of which Duffy has been able to retain.
Duffy has quite a bit of coaching experience, including being a head coach at the MAC and Big East levels and doing a very respectable job at those schools before arriving at VT. It also appears she has acquired good experienced contacts along the way as demonstrated by her assistant hires at VT.

Yes but Duffy inherited a strong program...
Kenny Brooks followed Dennis Wolff who never finished no better than 11th in the ACC. Fan support was low. The program was in a bad place after a decade + of Beth Duckenberger and Wolff. Say what you want to say about Brooks, but he did build a solid program which allowed Whit Babcock to hire a quality head coach capable of keeping the program moving in the right direction.

current players to stay, as well as normal recruiting duties. I wouldn't exactly say VT's former coach left the team in good shape. The last 3-4 years put the program in a top level and allowed some better recruits to be interested in a visit but he basically said
Bye and get bent.

Other circumstances. “Get bent”? Told friend in person over a beer this week about what went down and they were totally understanding of what he did.

unless you're prepared to air your allegations you have absolutely no business mentioning. You've pulled that BS tactic before.

no one cares. And, your self-anointed credibility means nothing except to you. And as far as Duffy/KB goes (to me at least), it's next coach up.

then the only place your supposed credibility can come from is yourself. You really just spew things without thinking, or remembering what you write. I'm not insider, but I don't pretend to be one like yourself. Keep responding and keep building your credibility quotient, which is approaching negative numbers.

That's the best you got? You post claiming inside info, decline to provide any info, and when challenged, whine and ask, WANNA BET? I may have no idea, but I have a clue. And all this over a coach who left to go somewhere else. You claim he was betrayed. If so, explain. And all these people who you claim agree with you, based on YOUR story, have yet to be heard from on this board. Hell, I might agree with you, if I heard YOUR story and it could be substantiated. But, we'll never know.
Unlike your username, you didn't come, see or conquer. You posted, you won't substantiate, and you failed. Next time, don't bring a knife to a gunfight.

Pretty brave for an anonymous board. I've been taunting you in this string, yet you continue to bite. Step back and read your own posts, you're making a fool of yourself, much like you did a few months ago. If you ever want to meet, I'm usually at the monthly TSL meetings here in Blacksburg. Show up and we'll talk, if you're capable of sane conversation. You fit the old saw that a fool and his money are soon parted.

As I told you before I respect you not betraying confidences but, I have no respect for your tactic of referring to it on s public message board if not willing to share and my position would be the same if the allegations were reversed.

We as fans are only privy to glimpses of what actually goes on. Regardless, I think most fans fall into one of two groups. 1. They are bitter for the basic selfish reason of being dumped. 2. They are offended by the cold shoulder.
There isn't much that could be done about #1. #2 is on Kenny.
Are there reasons? Maybe. As you say we don't know the whole story. But even if one knows one side of the story, one does not know the whole story. #2 above could have been avoided regardless of the story.
