Brooks came in after the program had hit rock bottom with

Dunkenberger and continued to be a bottom feeder (with more chaos) by Wolff. It took Brooks quite a few seasons to get to the top level of the ACC. So, Duffy is inheriting a much more visible program with some respectable talent still in place of which Duffy has been able to retain. Duffy has quite a bit of coaching experience, including being a head coach at the MAC and Big East levels and doing a very respectable job at those schools before arriving at VT. It also appears she has acquired good experienced contacts along the way as demonstrated by her assistant hires at VT.
