But why Kentucky? I understand more money...but come on.
I understand that more money is what drives people, but come on. This is not a better job. If he really wants to leave, then wait until a better job opens. Don't know what that would be, but there has to be a better place than Kentucky. All he has to do is look at the writing on the wall for how much they dislike losing and how they want Coach Cal gone. If he fails there for 2 straight years, then they will want to get rid of him.

them to 2 NCAA tourney's and 1 SEC tourney title. The last 2 years were apparently down. So she's out. Never mind her early success. At VT, based on his performance to date, he'd have damn near 6 years before he'd have to worry about job security, maybe longer.

He does have family there, so that would make the family trip reasonable.

good point. Maybe UK has more NIL opportunities for recruiting?

As so many of you have pointed out, the relationship with your boss, working conditions, and the stress caused are things to consider. When folks are having trouble paying the rent, buying groceries, or getting medical care, I can (sort of) understand going after a pay increase regardless of the other factors, but once you are at a comfortable level (yes, I know this is a moving target), I don't understand chasing money alone.
I've known too many that took the promotion, made the move, and loved the money, but hated getting up and going to work in the morning.
Maybe not making a million a year blinds me to the benefits of more, more, more.
NONE of this is meant to disparage Coach Brooks, whom I greatly admire. I just think he is in a great working situation, with a lot of talented and dialed-in players coming back, and a community that loves him. I wish nothing but the best for him and his family.

to decide if he wants to be where he is celebrated, or tolerated and he knows he is celebrated here (quote from Whit per Roanoke Times). Evidently the UK offer has been extended. TSL guy says usually they do not extend an offer unless they are pretty sure you will say yes. Perhaps Whit has some time to come back with something persuasive, but my guess is it will just boil down to whether Kenny wants to make a life change or not. If he leaves and takes the staff and players, he will destroy everything he created here. Does he care about that.... dunno.

Plus, the money Buzz was offered was much more versus what he got here. From what has been stated, the money differences from UK and Tech matching offers is not that far apart.

and enjoy a great salary and great facilities while they have to be patient (for years) while you build it. Just a thought.

And Kentucky would not be a family atmosphere as evidenced by “win at all costs” attitude for men’s basketball.

They're rehabbing the old Memorial Coliseum...which also hosts gymnastics and volleyball.

VT has turned into a powerhouse over the past 2 years. The class coming in will keep it rolling. Other than money, I can not see a reason to move there. Even if he took his group with him, the fan support can not come close to comparing to VT. Two bad years = gone. Shoot...hot seat will happen if he doesn't show improvement after 1 year.
