All signs are there for Franklin to be our next head coach. The visits, the recruit and staff conversations, the comments he has made, the big TV personalities weighing in....all of it points to VT. Could it go awry...definitely. The only hold-up is FSU. However, firing Norvell will require a ton of money, which then would require more money for a new coach and his staff. I'll say this, if FSU was interested in Franklin then they would have fired Norvell already. That is a task that must be done first. They know VT has offered and they know the longer they keep Norvell the likelihood of Franklin signing somewhere else increases.

Since he is not tied to a university, then he is basically free to do whatever until a deal is in place. Now if a verbal agreement is in place, then I do not know. But right now he is a fired head coach. I do not believe it was in his buyout that he could not speak to anyone until he found a job.

If, for some reason Franklin doesn't come, then VT would be crazy to not have talked to other coaches. You have to talk to other prospective candidates.....especially the way the coaching carousel is running right now.

Come on now, all signs point to him coming: 1. He has reached out to recruits and assistants inquiring if they would follow him to VT. Yes, this has been confirmed. 2. He's been in Blacksburg twice now. His wife really enjoys small towns. None of the other schools fit that mold. VT is incredibly similar to Happy Valley, minus a few things. 3. He's said he knows it is a good fit and the best spot for him to win games. Don't ask how I know this, but it was said from him. The biggest is that the has reached to recruits and assistants to see if they would come with him. He can do this until he signs on the line. Once you sign, it would be tampering. Right now he is doing a lot of work behind the scenes to get things together. If you knew you could get a jump start, wouldn't you? Just be patient. He's coming. Not today, but he is coming. There have been 0 signs that he is not coming. He's not going to Ar Kansas. He's not going to LSU or Florida. FSU? They are not firing Norvell. The buyout is too much, although they can pay it over time. But FSU is not a good fit.

I’ve waited and waited and waited for us to right the ship. I just want it to happen. He would be a perfect fit here. The orange and maroon is strong with me.

Kept on hearing Monday, Monday, Monday. Well that’s tomorrow. It’s either happening tomorrow or it ain’t happening at all. Chesney? What has he proven? He hasn’t played the big boys and won. Now if he gets to the CFP and wins a game, then yeah he’d be legit. But for now, we are right back to where we were after game 3. Nothing permanent and no hope in sight.

I’ve been pulling for this for a while. He and my wife both went into the East Stroudsburg Hall of Fame together a few years ago, obviously different sports. He struck me that day and evening as such a good guy. The way he presented himself acted. I always said that I wish he was the coach at VT. Now will it happen? According to your sources, yes and I’m holding on to that hope. Others may not want him, but he is just what we need. A winner, a family man, and an overall great person. He immediately brings relevance to our program. Will he win the big games? Who cares. Just get us there. These young fans know nothing about the late 90’s and 2000’s. Just get us back there. So yeah, I’d support him. Probably more than most people. Got that ESU connection and hopefully we see him soon in Blacksburg.

It may open today. But why would anyone want to go where you will always be second tier behind Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Florida.

That ain’t him. And those other people? That may be the TEMU version.

Man, we haven't been in any big games in a long long long time. Shoot, I'd be happy if you just got us to a big game. Win or lose, at least we would hope. Right now, hope is nonexistent.

He went to college in PA, coached at PSU and is used to the weather. The weather will not influence his decision to come here. IF anything it may deter him from going to where it is hot (FSU, Florida, LSU).

I highly doubt that though. If it were Monday, then they would do it today to drum up attention for Gameday tomorrow. It would be the top story for ESPN. You can't beat that national plug. Again, those who claim they know....well I guess Monday will either show you are legit or a fraud. Mark it down - I will gladly drink a cup of duck pond water if he is announced on Monday.

But there is nothing. Someone said something and then it just blew up with no proof of him even wanting to be here or visiting here. Do I want him here....definitely. But at some point we have to be realistic. Those saying wait until Monday: Well Monday will come and go and there will be nothing. Then what? We will see this: There was a change of mind or change of direction or my sources were incorrect. Either spill your sources or give more insight to who it is to become legit or you are just a rumor mill.

I would love for him to come here, but there is no evidence that this is actually occurring. Could it be happening behind the scenes and the major writers do not know anything, sure, but that seems unlikely. Every mention of it is from either people who are not connected to VT, random articles being written on websites not named ESPN or from reputable writers, or from this message board only. I do not want to face the reality, but I think we have to at some point. Until a reputable writer comes out and says it, then it is not happening. Hope I am wrong.

Got the twitterverse going crazy to draw up attention and make moves happen behind the scenes elsewhere. Not a single reputable source is verifying any of this information, that should tell you all you need to know. Also, there haven’t been any sightings around Blacksburg. He would have to come here first to check it out. Someone would have seen him. No coach is signing anywhere until end of November at the earliest. They all know more positions will open, other coaches will move around. You think it’s crazy now with Franklin rumors, just wait.
