From Softball America: "The rankings presented below are independent of the Softball America Top 25. Instead, they combine all major college softball polls into a single average list. As the season progresses, RPI and KPI data will be added to this composite. All rankings reflect games played from Monday to Sunday of the previous week.
"Virginia Tech emerged as the biggest riser of the week, surging nine spots to No. 11 after an impressive pair of victories over Georgia....this week’s movement underscores the volatility and competitiveness of the landscape. With that in mind, we present our Week Four Composite Rankings, an evaluation that balances results, quality of performance, and overall momentum as the picture begins to sharpen as we head deeper into the season."

or better this year. Feels like a lot of years we have a game or 2 that is just a ridiculous score. I feel like we have not played a team this year that is that bad.

After a disastrous opening game to Arkansas (17-1), the have now won 14 in a row.
They are hitting .340 as a team and have a 2.21 ERA. They play Michigan today, which will be a good test. They have UNC next week and I expect them to end UNC’s party

OSU is 6-7 with losses to Florida Atlantic & Delaware, and a nine-run, 5-inning loss to Indiana. 😆

To your point, Ohio State isn’t Top 20 - they are ranked in the 50s by Massey.
The Arkansas win is the headline for the Hoos. That’s the Hogs only loss this season.

Some probably aren't aware of this story, so humor me and please allow me to share it one more time.
After the horrific shooting on the UVA campus in 2022, the VT softball team send a card to Coach Hardin and the UVA softball team, signed by the entire Hokies team. The Hokies were scheduled to play at Virginia that year on the anniversary of the VT shootings (April 16th). During the pregame introductions, the UVA team lined up on the same foul line as the VT team in a show of unity.
After VT won a hard-fought series (2 games to one), Coach Hardin asked Coach Pete if she could address the VT team after the game. She told the Hokies how much that card meant to her and the UVA team and shared that the Hokies were the only team that did something like that. She also shared that that card was the only non-UVA item that was on her desk. She broke down in tears and many of the VT team did as well. Several personally told me afterwards what an impact her words made on them.
I had the opportunity to speak to Coach Hardin in Blacksburg last season and told her how much I respected the job that she was doing in Charlottesville and what a classy gesture it was to speak to the VT team that day. She replied, "can I share something with you? That card is still on my desk today."
I know she is a Wahoo, but I really respect her. And Coach Pete has previously commented that he does as well.

stronger P4 teams in the ACC for the state of Virginia. Which is great for recruiting in the long run. Coach Beamer used to say the same thing about the football teams in Virginia being strong, helps recruiting and the state of Virginia because the level of play increases and that is good for the sport and the state itself. I'm glad that their relationship is strong and she is doing a great job building the Virginia program and she has a veteran team this season, which are doing very well so far. Go Lady Hokies Softball Team! Beat USC Upstate, Troy, and Auburn! 😊👍👌
