If that were a nine school conference, and since we’re being creative, plus Notre Dame to make ten, you’d have one heckuva conference. Nearly all football matchups would be watchable and for basketball not much would be lost. Strip away Wake, Louisville, BC and Syracuse and I’d bet ESPN et al. would pay about the same for media rights, but now divided in fewer pieces. Wake occasionally wins but nobody cares. Same for Cuse and BC. The ACC should have addressed this years ago.

And yes the fact so many at UNC and UVA look down on the SEC academically and intellectually is going to be a factor. VT, NCSU and Clemson do the best for the ACC from DMV to Charlotte. There is a listing of school attendance over a 5 year period of 2018 to 2022 (mind you the VT numbers include a coaching disaster and change) UNC is more valuable as a draw for couch potatoes in Nevada but not really in NC.

As 2hhop3 pointed out, the ACC called FSUs bluff my highlighting the buy out possibility, pay up and leave, but how much FSU afford? $500million? $300 million? The ACC really has nothing to gain by negotiating. I know a few intellectual property attorneys and they say once an entertainer sells their rights to a production company its damn near impossible to get them back. They also point out that this is, at its core, an IP dispute and is likely headed to federal court. I think people (click baiters on youtube and twitter) are grossly overstating the strength of FSUs hand.
