It was hard to tell who was who and who was talking. I also missed the role all so I don't know if Malcolm was there. The thing I thought was strange about Lee Roberts was that no one on the BOT asked him anything, I mean Cunningham works for him. It was very heated and Boliek and one of the women members were going back and forth with Meekins. Boliek is running for statewide office of auditor. Not sure if that is why he has been so visible.

The BOG appointed Lee Roberts as interim. During Monday's meeting the BOT did not ask him any questions nor did he speak. Several BOT members were complaining about Cunningham not being there, etc and wanting an audit. BOT member Ralph Meekins did all the defending of Cunningham. I did not see the interim Chancellor say a word. He knows who he works for. They did pass motion to request an audit of the athletic department. The Board of Governors appoints 8 members of the BOT and the General Assembly, 6.

what was promised to the other members of conference when the agreement was signed. They actually are describing what everyone knew when they signed and why they signed, to keep people from leaving.

The GOR represents the IP that FSU rented to the ACC. They are now saying it is worth MORE than $500 mullion. That's why they want to leave early. Its not a fee, its a commodity priced at market value. Their only hope it to beat the GOR in court. OU and UT were in the last year of their GOR. Not 12 years away. Maryland did not sign a GOR. They are the reason the ACC instituted one. The Big Ten has a similar GOR. Guess who doesn't? The SEC. That's why we are hearing all this A&M to the Big Ten chatter.

Are season ticket holders going to buy another set of season tickets? The visiting team does not get any of the gate at away games. How many athletes are going to hop into the portal if these kind of shenanigans happen? 'Hey mom, we will be playing our home games at Ladd Peebles stadium in Mobile next season'

As 2hhop3 pointed out, the ACC called FSUs bluff my highlighting the buy out possibility, pay up and leave, but how much FSU afford? $500million? $300 million? The ACC really has nothing to gain by negotiating. I know a few intellectual property attorneys and they say once an entertainer sells their rights to a production company its damn near impossible to get them back. They also point out that this is, at its core, an IP dispute and is likely headed to federal court. I think people (click baiters on youtube and twitter) are grossly overstating the strength of FSUs hand.

Don't see how a court agrees to lowering the cost. The whole thing about a buy back was put in the latest ACC filing to continue to persuade the court the buy out is not a penalty. The exit fee could be seen as a penalty. This is the reason GOR came into existence.

Everything on X, Youtube, etc is all created by Big 10, Big 12 and FSU people. Very little counterbalance. The Big 12 stuff is sick. Just because Texas and OU bolted you want to see the ACC take hits.

You have to agree that the politicians are not going to sit on their hands. Which it what seems to be your position. I understand the differences, they aren't that subtle, and I think some tough decisions would have to made in the event the political leverage does not gain traction but they will not just give up. They have to put up some type of effort to appease the voters. This may be sad, but sports are the one thing that will generate interest in voters. The subject in Virginia is almost on full 'radio silence' other than the AG. Which in itself is interesting. Babcock made some 'we love the ACC' boiler plate comments. So, we don't have any leaks from in Va. that I am aware of. We have Big 12 homers making stuff up but that is to be expected.

What makes you think they won't do it again? Kilgore's suit against the ACC slowed their expansion process down long enough to allow politicians to leverage Va Tech into the conference. Members of the General Assembly have said the same thing. What have politicians done to hurt Tech and NC State?

I think the new division will attract the 40 top FB programs in the US. It is conceivable that the all join this new division and play football only in this division and the split the $$$. They remain in their current conferences for all other sports. So, top tire is added for football TV. The conferences then negotiate the TV deals for their Tier 2 schools in the same way they do today.

There is a lot of speculation about what happened. In its suit the ACC states that the members, including FSU, specifically authorized all ESPN agreements. So, they are saying the yearly renewing was known by the member schools. There is no solid reporting from ESPN or the ACC about ESPNs opinion concerning the expansion. So that is all speculation. FSU and its surrogates have been waging a fierce public information campaign on this issue while ESPN and the ACC have been silent. He changes his mind all the time. Copies stuff from other people's twitter and posts it as his own. Got his whole rep riding on FSU going to the Big 10. Massive Big 10 homer. I post replies with facts but get no response. Some of his theories are OK like eventually CFB having two power conferences. Or a separate division. He says he sells software to some athletic dept's in the Big 10.

I think the VT football TV numbers, NOVA presence, student body size and alumni size are starting to sink in with some of the prognosticators.

The Big Ten does nothing for me. The teams are overrated, the weather sux, we got't away from Rutgers and Maryland. I guess Im too southern and appreciate the south's culture surrounding college football much more than the midwests. I went to the VT at ND at South Bend. The tailgating was very subdued. I went to VT at Nebraksa. That was better but nothing like Center St or the Chicken Lot. The SEC 14th Slot shows that the SEC values what they see at VT. Let's hope they still want us.

Under the contract, ESPN is paying pro rata for the new teams. Cal and Stanford take a reduced share and SMU takes no share for 5 years so the other schools reap the pro rata increase.
