Bill Belichick and Lawrence Taylor both in the arena today
Hyping the Duke-UNC game. Given their propensities, I wonder if they’ve dated any of the same women….errr…girls.

Let’s hope this reflects the general view that the SEC and BIg Ten…
Have signaled that there will be - max - 40 schools that will ultimately fit into their grand scheme. For all of the other alumni and regional fans, college football just became college baseball to you: an interesting little novelty.
This “reorganization” move will wipe large chunks of the US off the college football map. Will fans in Utah, Arizona, Virginia, Colorado, Kansas, New York, New England, etc. care if they don’t have a dog at least ostensibly in the hunt? You can’t fit everybody into two conferences.
Rarely do business plans work when they shrink the pie while shrinking the number of parties sharing the pie. I think that is what the P2 is doing here - probably inadvertently. I would love to see a regional breakdown of viewership to gauge whether non-P2 regions stopped watching.
I know that there are (were?) a lot of rabid playoff fans on this site, but I hated the idea from the very beginning, assuming that it would wreck the college football ecosystem. I hated the idea back when I thought VT would actually be in the club, so now I don’t even like to hear it mentioned.

Honestly, I am encouraged that he’s reaching for innovative solutions
Throw stuff out there until you hit on something big. My question though is why did we wait so long to start tossing Hail Marys?

I suppose the workaround is so obvious that ED shouldn’t bother
Just export the entire university NIL operation to a separate operation. They can even lease space from the schools for offices. Sure, NIL funds will have to pay for staff, but that seems apropriate given the driver for the change.

I think the shame of it all is that so much money will be spent…
By schools on in-house and outside counsel, all because ED (during a time when kids can barely read or write) decided to pick up the collegiate NIL issue. It’s exhibit A for dissolving ED.

existence of an easy workaround indicates that a suit is a waste of time
As soon as any suit to enjoin compliance with ED’s letter passed summary judgment (probably in deep blue Kalifornia), NIL pools would dry up and NIL money would be routed directly to the players. By the time - assuming cert - the case arrives in the lap of SCOTUS, it would be moot.
But hey wouldn’t it be fun if Alabama had to slice a big chunk of their NIL pool off for the ladies?

I think it’s important to put this advisory letter in context…
The timing of this letter is suspect. It could be nothing more than a petty jab by an exiting administration to make Trump’s job just a little more difficult. At the end of the day, Linda McMahon can repudiate the letter and call it pure overreach by a radicalized ED department. McMahon will be too busy trying to wind down ED to pick any Title IX fights.
I suppose a private party can find the farthest left corner of California and file a title 9 suit, and anything can happen there, including the ninth circuit court of appeals, whose opinions have made me laugh out loud more than once.

It’s more likely to be dismantled and redistributed.
Key functions will be distributed to other relevant departments, making it easier to clear committee, and ED goes bye-bye.

Well who do we have then?
CAL
Stanford
Colorado
Utah
Arizona
Arizona State
Kansas
Oklahoma State
SMU
WVU
PITT
VT
UVA
UNC
NCSU
GT
Clemson
FSU
I don’t care - pick your favorite 18 or 20.
Next, find a true corporate sponsor. Does anybody care if it’s called the Netflix conference? Not me.
You can play around with swapping Duke, BYU, K-State, a Texas school, or another PAC school - whoever - but why not take membership up to 20? Make the conference too big to ignore. Some private capital entrepreneur will make it work. Some streamer will pay. The ACC, B12 and PAC must fail eventually. It will happen. Tear the bandaid off quickly, paper over the broken agreements and hurt feelings, and start surviving now.
Toss in Notre Dame as a partial member, and you’ve got a real conference.

Is it that hard to try a screen pass? I mean, the O-Line…
Is going to let the defense through anyway. Lob it over their heads to a running back.

They beat ranked USC and Illinois. Lost to Penn State by 1, UM by 2…
God only knows what they’ll do to us. We’ll need to play a perfect game to have a chance.

Two comically bad calls in Irish favor
Never seen a clearer case if roughing the kicker. I thought only the SEC got gifts like that.

Playoffs are almost irrelevant. P2 wants to keep other conferences alive….
But on life support. They need schools all over the U.S. to participate, but only well enough to get thumped in the playoff. The networks can’t simply write off large swaths of the country, so schools like Utah, Boise State, and VT need to technically have a shot so that all of those regional fans watch college football.
The P2 can’t swallow up everybody, so I think they’ll be free with playoff bids until they elevate their programs to a new division.
