NSIR: Is this obituary Major Kong's, who hasn't posted here since December?
So much of this man's life - Hokies, Orioles, zinc mine in Alaska above the Arctic Circle, numerous hospital visits ...
I searched obituaries for Marion VA where he had retired, which also matches what he told us of his life. Hope this isn't so, but his date of passing was just 4 days after his most recent post here.

We also talked about Marion VA a few times as I had visited and also spent many summers there (cousins, grandparents . . .) since the late '50s.

My sister was born there in 1954.
My Dad was working at Gary. We lived in Premeir. I was almost 3.
I saw in his obit that he met his wife at ETSU. My wife's first husband graduated from ETSU in the same major. He passed in 2004.
They met in Gainesville while she was in school and he was working for FDOH.
RIP Major Kong.

Premier in the late '60s-'70s (?) I then went off to school, etc., and didn't keep up with him. I kinda remember a hardware store over at Roderfield (McCoy's?).

I had a good repertoire with Major Kong here, but nothing outside of the Lounge.
Anyway I recall a post where he mentioned his Australian Sheppard as I had just become an owner of 2 myself. Found the post where he mentioned the names of his Aussie and his cat, Burt and Squeakers. Both are mentioned in the obituary.
RIP Major Kong

He had "In IV ball of Piperacillin/Tazobactam that goes into my PICC line," and he said that would be "my 24/7 shadow for the next 6 weeks."
I'm not a doc, but from a quick google, a PICC line with Piperacillin/Tazobactam is used when there is a serious infection that will require prolonged treatment.
RIP

Seems like it has to be. Even though, I never met him...you sit around this place all day, and you feel like you know everybody. I can't say this news doesn't hurt.

There are way too many matches for this not to be him.
