The movie scared the life out of eight year old me. The “drama” of the film Would inspire the classic Airplane movies

Omega Man is one of my favs
I watched Towering Inferno semi recently. It holds up pretty damn well, plus OJ Simpson is in it.

Perhaps real epic answer: James Clavells "Shogun" (Richard Chamberlain)

Just looking at your graphic, Andromeda Strain is by FAR the best.
If that qualifies -- and I guess you think it does. The original Airport is fairly good competition, with its all-star class (and even an Oscar for Helen Hayes I believe). And how bout Pacific Rim with all the kaiju monsters? But "Action" is a mighty broad category.... do you really mean "Action where bad things happen?"

kinda like a fighty Action. Beer. Cussin'. wimminznizing. et al.

if you switch beer for Russkie mobster vodka, watch the first John Wick.
The rest of that is all there. Cussin. Womanizing (though not by Wick). We even get scenes in a rave. And it's fighty..... REAL fighty. "He's not the boogeyman. He's the guy you send to KILL the f'ing boogeyman!"

Armageddon. It's really not that good of a movie and yet every single time
I am flipping channels and it's on I end up watching the whole thing. And if you've never checked out Ben Affleck's commentary on the movie it's hilarious. "I asked Michael Bay why it was easier to train drillers to be astronauts than to train astronauts to be drillers and he told me to shut the f up... so that was the end of that." ** Edited by AbsolutVT03 at 4/12/2023, 9:55:25 PM

I honestly have no idea why that movie did so much better than Deep Impact
when they came out about the same time. Deep Impact was sooo much better. I guess because Armageddon was more of a silly action flick, while Deep Impact was the pure drama of society facing the end of the world.
