We had high hopes before Pry’s & Fuente’s first seasons, too. Fuente
Actually delivered his first year giving CU a scared in the ACCCG. Unfortunately, after our QB decided to attempt to go pro early, we were left without a playmaker at QB & the hopes crashed.
Franklin could be special, especially given our recent influx in NIL. It will be interesting to see where hopes are, going into Franklin’s 3rd or 4th year.

You think Beamer wanted to take the chance of deflating his best recruiters ego. I get tired of repeating this but the ACC CONFERENCE was a defensive dominate conference in those days. No ACC school had an offense ranked higher than their defense back then. Just like the PAC 12 schools had higher ranked offenses then they did defenses. Thus, it’s not really fair to expect Stiney’s offense to be ranked higher than a pack 12’s school. Plus, on the flip side we’ll never know if Foster could’ve maintained even a top 5 defense had he jumped ship & became a defensive coordinator for a Pack 12 school amongst all those high powered offenses.

Seems crazy to have salary caps on pro teams but not on college teams. The
public has no idea what college athletes & teams cumulatively are being paid right now. We can’t be sure if those dollars are going up/down or how long they’ll continue. Whatever it is you can be sure they’ll keep asking for more money & you’re just supposed to trust them.

We all have opinions. It’s always been my opinion that Stiney was one of
Our best Recruiters & VT was better off with him then without him & Frank knew it. It also my opinion that disgruntled fans ultimately made recruiting impossible. When fans should’ve been celebrating the cohesion & longevity of VT’s staff thereby helping recruiting efforts many chose to destroy it by hurting recruiting. IIWII.

Think about how much NIL helps the players who are great college athletes
But won’t make the pros? Those players can at least make some decent money while in college. Not everyone is cut out to excel in school.

We had another close call that could’ve ended the scoring streak earlier
But I don’t remember the team we were playing. I do remember giving Beamer credit for playing for the win rather than worrying about keeping the scoring streak alive. It was late in a game that we were losing & had not scored, yet. We had the opportunity to kick an easy FG but really needed a TD to have a chance of winning. Sorry for my lack of details. I don’t recall the team. I just recall Beamer opted to throw the ball needing a sizable pickup, so it was risky, w/a backup QB in the game to try & keep the drive alive. The back up completed the pass & we went on to score. Unfortunately, I don’t recall the team or if we won or not. I just recall being happy that Beamer cared more about the win than making sure the streak continued. The back up QB, whoever he was, never did get much playing time but can take pride in playing his part in keeping the streak alive.

Underarm as the girls throw, allows the arm to last a lot longer than throwing over handed as some (but not all) of us recall from Angela Tincher’s days. She was quite the super star. Fun to watch play & read about. I especially enjoyed reading her blog while she played in Japan. I hope she’s doing well.
