Advertising on MLB jerseys...
It happened in the NBA, so it was only a matter of time. It will trickle down to college at some point. I really want to buy a VT jersey with a "Chico's Bail Bonds" emblem on the sleeve.

Barry’s Bail Bonds?

I think I'd rather each player have their own logo deals
than the school putting ads on the players. Either that, or 100% of the money raised by putting logos on uniforms should go to the players.

Wonder what happens when a player disagrees with politics of the advertiser

The umpires had an ad patch on their shirts starting last year.
It was FTX. No joke.

It's happened in the NHL too. On the helmets. Cap One for the Caps, PPG
for the Pens, and so on.

VT could have a patch for God's House Turkey Legs

I know that you know the answer, but who are these teams? (pic)
I'm sure than every sports team wants to earn more money, but I honestly could not have told you what teams are playing in this pic had I not already googled it. To the average viewer it looks like AIA versus Etihad. I really don't want advertisers to completely take over VT's uniforms but that may one day become the financial reality. Also, can you even imagine advertising on NYY pinstripe uniforms? I'm no Yankees fan but there is something to be said for the tradition of baseball in the US.

Every soccer fan knows the sponsors of all the big teams. Its quite ...
... clear to most who follow the EPL who we've got here. Plus, the Tottenham and City crests are clearly visible. It also says "Spurs" and "City" on the socks. That's plenty enough to do the job. The branding issue really only affects those who don't know much about the sport or league.

That’s the issue… ads bugger than team logos and names
Yeah, I said β€œbugger,” cause they do ** Edited by WestyHokie at 2/2/2023, 5:02:07 PM

Tottenham and Man City
But considering some Tech fans have a hard time telling if VT is playing unless they're wearing maroon AND have the VT on the helmet, I can see how soccer could be confusing for them. ;-)

Not the team where everyone is Number 3. Very Ugly Uniforms .

Tottenham just signed a major sleeve deal with South Africa....
3 years, 42 million, for a badge on their sleeve promoting South African tourism. I wish I decided to sell advertising for a living.

PSG has the best sleeve deal in all of sports.

A lot of those guys work on commission and salary
I have two friends of mine..both worked at the EPL and that was their job..to sell sponsorship packages. Both got in with a large Chinese tire manufacturer and brought it to the EPL. They made a lot of bank on their commission structure. One is now the Commercial Director at Rangers and the other took his money and started to represent another Chinese brand. He got that brand on quite a few football kits and created more deals with Rangers (via his friend), Barcelona, and Newcastle United.

Wait- the Rangers are now sporting ads on their uniforms?! They better be g
Getting commissions. Hell, and I thought AYCC (carry) free Rip-its before an all-night op were the best bennies! Just as long as they don’t bring back any ads in that digital cammie crap. ** Edited by reconhokie at 2/2/2023, 4:45:50 PM

Rangers Football Club...not to be confused with the Regiment
However, the Regiment got a lot of person as well from suppliers for the 'non standard issue" items that we utilized. Speaking of the SOCOM days, I just recently touched based (via LinkedIn) with some of my Delta friends including a good buddy who was part of the Ranger QRF at Robert's Ridge. He won a Silver Star for that engagement and was selected to go straight to Delta after what he did there. He had a fantastic Delta career (did a lot in Africa) and is a "Manager" now at Bragg. Great guys.
