Don't be surprised when Franklin signs that there isn't an agreement with
PSU to eliminate the threat of a future lawsuit on the difference in pay OR a lump sum settlement.
Don't be surprised if this was the delay this week...

and it's why discussions occurred this week not only between his camp and PSU but VT and a few of the other candidates Monday.

We got the money, as good as the SEC for coaches and staff and we are willing to spend, we want to hire the best.
He's the best from natoinal brand and VT wants to be a national brand NOW. no development. VT wants to be ready to be power 2 now and are prepared to spend to get there.
I dont care if we wares purple and gold, if he can come with top notch team and support staff and change the entire operation of what big time football is at VT.

And don’t confuse the difference between a deal being done and the announcing of a deal being done. Those are different things that occur on separate timetables. I am optimistic that the sudden quiet means the deal is done and we have entered the PR phase. But - that is solely based on optimism so it will be fun to see what happens!

As of now however, it feels like a shakedown by a hustler working a mark.

It’s not like we’re trying to poach him from PSU when they’re undefeated and #1. He was fired because his team completely underperformed and was fairly tagged as a guy who hasn’t won the big games. The demand for his services is more perceived than reality IMO with the Arkansas being the only other program with significant interest. Not sure how that warrants a pay raise and hardball negotiations on Franklin’s part unless the search committee is not good at this. We don’t know the details but that 11M/yr seems crazy to me.

Penn St. fans rejoiced when Franklin was fired. I fear VT is going to tie a millstone around its own neck if they pay Franklin that much money.
