I think we should put our backups in with meaningful reps...
late in games when our victory is already decided. The backups should be trying to score on offense and stop scoring on defense. That's what I consider running up the score. Doing on-side kicks and trick plays that might work in a meaningful situation are unnecessary.

Our only 2 games scheduled are home games. So those are not going to be
dropped. They're essentially already paid for. After that we may not schedule them again but even if we do, it will be for home games only.

I think he's the ultimate Hokie fan now. Someone who would got to every
practice, if they could. And does.
He's certainly got the history for it.

Only if they started as 5 stars. History show that when recruits commit to
VT their star ratings drop. Not all the time but with the bigger recruits.

It could run the whole sport. If we allow athletes to throw games so that
they can win bets, what's the point of watching?

Teams with first-year head coaches: Most likely to improve
Hokies listed as #2 most likely to improve with a first year head coach. Down a ways in the article.

Re: Re: Who do you think replaces him?
Cignetti would be interesting. He turned Indiana around fast.

Who do you think replaces him?
I've been hearing some names floated around. Anyone have inside info?

Yes.
And Duke winning:
The ACC football championship
Men's basketball regular season
Men's basketball ACC tournament championship
Women's basketball regular season
and the Women's basket ball ACC tournament championship

We had 7 teams that won twice as much as they lost and another 3 that won
1.5 times what they lost. The ACC was a very good conference this year.

They had the opportunity to pick up a couple of extra tournament credits.
Oh well. I was rooting for them.
Even though Miami OH is a better story.

Thanks for offering life time memberships back when you needed an upgrade.
I surely wouldn't have enjoyed all y'all content over the years if not for that.

If a coliseum upgrade is $100mil. Spend an extra $25 mil a year on NIL for
4 years instead. I can almost guarantee that it will help more.

If VT hadn't lowered their minimum yearly donation to $25, I would have
stopped giving when I stopped going to football games.
As it stands, I donate $25 to $100 a year just to keep my points priority, so that if I still want season tickets some day, I'll still have my points.

I've never been but the most economical way to go is to buy a ticket book
from one of the fans of the teams losing that day that don't want to see the rest of the tournament. You can get them for face value or less.
Getting tickets through VT is almost impossible. With 15 basketball schools playing in usually a 22,000 seat arena or less, schools get less than 1500 tickets. So the top 15% of donors.
If you can buy them now, I'd go ahead and do it.

I saw a game in Cassell for the 1st time in years this past weekend and I
thought it was fantastic!!!
The only complaint is that there is no score board hanging over the middle of the arena. Well the Score boards on each end of the building are so big it's almost better than one hanging in the middle.
If we get good, there may be a need for new seats but Duke uses a small arena to drive all their donations. So maybe it's already the right size for us.
I don't think any new renovations are necessary at this time.

He was probably hired as the LB coach and then when the active DC left, he
was the only one available with DC experience. Hard to get a good DC in February/March as all the good ones have moved on to better jobs and are not going to leave having just made a commitment to another school.

I agree. It's the signal to noise ratio.
The local media and access by non-football persons is pure noise. Let them concentrate on football and only football.

A hundred Million a year for many years may do it. Many P4 Programs
budgets are well over $100 mil a year.
It would take more than a lump sum drop of $100 mil to get ECU into the playoffs.

Because they have to create regular content and there's not that many new
ideas.
The fact that everyone and their brother now is creating content make it even worse.

CJF reaction was the first thing I thought of when I heard we lost a
recruit to admissions standards. I can guarantee you he would have gotten into PSU if CJF wanted him.

Cal scares me if it comes after 2 weeks of playing @BC @Miami or @SMU.
That's a lot of travel in back to back to back weeks. Even just 2 weeks in a row would be bad.
Football Board

I'm thinking 8 wins. A vast improvement but not setting the world on fire.
9 Conference games and replacing JMU in lane vs. SMU in Dallas didn't do us any favors.
Sept. 5 VMI - Win
Sept. 12 ODU - Win
Sept. 19 @Maryland - Win
Georgia Tech - Loss
Pitt - Loss
Stanford - Win
Virginia - Win
@Boston College - Win
@Cal - Win
@Clemson - Loss
@Miami - Loss
@SMU - Loss
And we'll have to turn one of these losses into a win.
Notice we got a who's who of the far flung reaches of the ACC. We travel to Miami, Boston, Cal and Texas. Some of them probably in back to back weeks.

Is Todd Grantham on the coaching staff now?
Is there a site I can go to to get a list of our current coaching staff?
I know you can't use Hokiesports.com

As long as their in place by spring practice, we'll be OK. The only
concern was getting players out of the portal not knowing who their position coach will be. And we're pretty much through with that now.
Football Board

Yeah, this is the time for them to talk trash. They can't afford to keep
up in the current landscape as they can't keep a coaching staff.
Pretty soon they will be an after thought again. With there best days behind them.
I'm not sure we don't want to play them next year. Lose there coaching staff again. Bring in a proven under performer this time instead of an up and comer and massive attrition in the portal and graduation. We'd beat them soundly next year.
