Nah, that would force them into a P2 conference and I like them just where
they are. I like our home games vs. Notre Dame and rooting against them in all sports.

Right now I'm about an 8.....
But that's because I don't care much about coaching hires (other than CJF) and recruiting (Good recruiting is cool but I'm 99% about what you do on the field and 1% what you did in HS) and am beaten down from the 3-9 season.
Long before the season starts next year I'll be a 10 out of 10 assuming you can't be 11 because I love this hire and I don't have any problem with him hiring Pry to be DC. CJF has worked with him for 15 years. He knows how valuable he is to have on staff. So he wasn't HC material. Show us what you can do as a DC.
I hope we win so much that I'm longing for tougher OOC opponents because the only decent OOC opponents on our future schedules are ND and BYU (I don't believe we will ever play Wisconsin).

I think it's presumed the playoff will be 16 teams next year. So 12 or
higher is not that great of a guarantee.

Those don't look like the wish list of a team willing to spend $2-$3 mil on
an OC. The look like the types of OCs we would be going after if we were watching spending.

But I went through my 2025 allowance for sports betting by the ODU VT game......

Maybe at UVA.... not at VT.
We sell out this game and people like to make their plans on the weekends. The common denominator between all these Tuesday and Wednesday night games is that no one attends and they wouldn't have hardly anyone showing up for any them any way. The VT/UVA game is still very desirable in the state of Virginia.
Now I enjoy seeing Liberty or JMU on those nights because it gives me a reason to watch but I don't want to see VT play on those nights.

Definitely. Last year would have been a much better year to be searching

I think all James Franklin wants to do is coach football. I've heard he has no hobbies. No golf, no skiing, no going to the beach. All he cares about is coaching football and winning a national championship.
Will he stay Hungry for winning for 8 years? Will he be here in another 8 years if he gets the job, whether or not he wins a national championship? That's a long time to ask for certainty.

Is it possible to fly from Harrisonburg to Blacksburg? Or would he drive to
Roanoke to fly to Blacksburg?

He's way more than I hoped for and it'll be the biggest splash hire of the
season unless Lane Kiffen goes some where.
So he's got a bad record vs. top 10 and top 5 teams. Almost no one has a good record vs. top 10 and top 5 teams.
VT doesn't have a good record vs. top 10 and top 5 teams. He's perfect.

The stadium really emptied out when we were down 20-10 but the remaining
fans made significant noise when they needed to. I was impressed by the remaining fans.

Is Mark Stoops leaving UK for Virginia Tech?
There's a thread on Cats Illustrated that says it's all but a done deal.
I posted on another message board:
Unfortunately Stoops checks a lot of boxes for the people that are in charge of the hire. Head Coach experience (a mistake from the last hire), experience at the highest level (B1G, SEC), Has a winning record and a history of winning (even though not great winning). Is regional. Do more with less. Compete against more prestigious and financially advantage opponents. If he were a great recruiter he'd have every thing.
I could definitely see the powers at be going for Stoops.
What do Y'all think?

I don't see why the B1G of all leagues has to do this. It's not like
venture capitalists are in the habit of giving out $2 Bil dollars. They are going to want something for their money. The B1G is currently on top of the money food chain. So why borrow more?

Plus one thing I've notice about their football hires is that they pay at
the top of the market. There's no being cheap when it comes to hiring a football coach.
