I get that being a corporate animal myself BUT the operative word is “top”

It’s not like we’re trying to poach him from PSU when they’re undefeated and #1. He was fired because his team completely underperformed and was fairly tagged as a guy who hasn’t won the big games. The demand for his services is more perceived than reality IMO with the Arkansas being the only other program with significant interest. Not sure how that warrants a pay raise and hardball negotiations on Franklin’s part unless the search committee is not good at this. We don’t know the details but that 11M/yr seems crazy to me.
