Update out of Tech. Offer made to Franklin. Met all his agent’s demands. His if he wants. Agent playing wack-a-mole since he represents several coaches. Deadline is today. Auburn doesn’t want him and neither does Florida. Suspicion growing that ole Dabo will get fired. Can’t stand his self-righteous ass! Turntable going on!

His refusal to recruit portal is too big of a disadvantage to overcome in this day and age.

talking to additional candidates. We will still hire Franklin if he accepts before any others do.

But strange 💩 has happened up to this point.
Next year should tell the tale though.
Flunky State might fire Norvell after this season, but their finances aren’t good at this point.

They're currently 3-5 and likely to split their last 4. If they end up with a losing record, no bowl, and 2 straight losses to Shane... I'm not sure Dabo survives. It also doesn't help that the more their program has declined, the more he has dug in and lashed out against any/all criticism... which is usually a hallmark of a stubborn older coach who's on the downhill slide, but his ego won't allow him to see that. It happens to most of them, Saban is one of the few exceptions.

at this point he would have to leave at least partly on his own accord. Personally I don't think the next coach will succeed there any better than Fuente.

Meet all of his demands and he’s still hesitating so he doesn’t really want the job. Bye Felecia!!! Let’s get Mullen, Chesney, and Silverfield in the hopper and see what transpires.

That theory has to go both ways right? In the end, no one has any loyalties to anyone but themselves, it seems.

I continue to say this: VT should go after Tim Polasek from NDSU. I highly doubt he'd say no, and the guy seems to be able to coach. He has also worked at Northern Illinois, Iowa, and Wyoming...not exactly the SEC, but he has varied experience as a position coach and as a coordinator, and he seems to be a winner. He also seems like he could truly build a program of tough-nosed kids that just love football, and I think that is VT's best chance of sustaining success in the current climate. Tech will never be able to consistently raise enough money to load its roster with the talent to compete with the top 25, so I think the best strategy is to recruit kids who want to be in Blacksburg and will likely stick around and develop. That strategy won't win any national championships, but that's not going to happen no matter who coaches the team.
Lastly, a guy like Polasek won't cost a fortune. There's no guarantee James Franklin will win at VT, but he will definitely win financially, regardless of his win-loss record. To me, he seems like as much of a risk as hiring someone who is not a "marquee name". VT cannot financially afford to have to pay another huge buyout to fire another coach in 5 years.

You’ll view JF as a chump and take advantage of his loss. That’s the difference in wanting a job and not wanting it.

say about VT's place in this NIL Era of college football?

competent and capable parties with a lot a stake are not handled that way.

For the bigger open jobs. If VT doesn’t enforce a time frame they have given up everything and risk being left with another Brent Pry like hire. If VT isn’t starting to talk to other candidates given the stalling tactics they are incompetent.
The other issue here is Sexton is the agent for the vast majority of the coaches of interest creating an effective monopoly on access to them. How that’s legal is beyond me but IIWII.

Buyout cost is likely the only reason that Norvell still has a job at FSU.
Dabo maybe survives for one more year if he wants.

and if they wanted him badly, firing would have already taken place.
These things don’t occur in a vacuum.
