Posting History (190)

20 wins this season ?

What are the over / under odds ? Including postseason. My take is since we will be 1 of the last 3, we are guaranteed to be playing the first day of ACC tourney - which should give us the 20th win.... Wow how 20 wins in bb doesn't feel great.

If they are right - look like geniuses

If they are wrong - no one will remember. Sometimes you got to make a splash to get big time.

The Jock Tax

At least that how California's call it. You can't make this stuff up

Think it is gonna be another good one

Ducks need to get far more pressure on Mendoza. They need to rattle him like tOSU did in Big10 game.

Yup - Beck is at his best when playing game manager

He can make some good middle\deep throws, but he is at his best simple routes \ passes to the flats and letting the talented WR/RBs do their thing. Very much a west coast offense. High % completions and first downs while taking a lot of time of clock.

Disagree

Their run game is fine. But the simple passes to the flats keep the secondary on its toes and those deep balls when they hit were killer.

I am starting to feel this way too

In watching game last night - I kept telling my kid - ESPN better start grooming someone. Herbie's style is old and sounds like a ton of cliche comments he has recycled from all his years. He needs to get goofy creative like a John Madden or step into some executive role. Or maybe run a cooking show like Jessie Palmer does (yes, I watch baking shows with the wife on cooking channel)

"he's targeting guys who will potentially, be around for a couple/few year"

Agree (and Hope) 100%. You cannot build for long term with guys who are JUST in it for the paycheck. Need them to believe in culture. All will say they do, but only coaches have best idea who is being real.

The ranking system is overrated

Frankly it is a sham. When teams who a highly ranked lose to other teams who are highly ranked - the loser just perpetuates their ranking as "they lost to a really good team". The SEC has totally monopolized this flaw. Obviously, ESPN has a major interest in keeping as many SEC teams in the top 20. So, they are as biased as any news media.

Thoughts

1) Ole Miss is game ready - whereas it was obvious tOSU had rust. If tOSU had even game in first half, they likely would have won. 2) Chambliss is senior whereas Sayin is freshman. That pick 6 was just terrible. 3) Ole Mis D is very average, but Beck is not slinging it for 300 a game. He is just a very efficient passer. Not sure Miami can hang with high scoring affair. 4) As much as Miami is on a mission, so is Ole Miss. So they both have emotional reasons to want game. So I like Ole Miss +3.5. But would consider teasing it to 7.5 and taking the over. At worst - I can see a 31-24 Miami win.

My kid has a few friends that were besides themselves

Switches to the Packers/Bears game only to find out your sure thing - was no more.

Yup - he should risk injury

right before his largest payday so far in life. Makes sense to me. đŸ¤Ļ

Sure - but the days of waiting to donate are over

This reason is no longer valid. Big boys have put up $ and the school is committed. So no one is asking anyone to donate more than they can. But now is the time to give if you can.

Lazy writing

I am sure all they did was take a cursor glance at coaches who have done well record wise.

Seems like everyone knew for a while, was there always a plan?

The more I read about this - the more I bet the was a plan in case things went south. "This was the worst-kept secret," one industry source told CBS Sports, echoing the sentiment of several others who said rumors of Moore's misconduct with a staff member had been rampant well before the termination became official. A high-level Michigan booster told CBS Sports that Moore's conduct had been widely known inside the building. "Everybody in the program has known this the last two seasons," the booster said, adding that Schembechler Hall was "swarming with lawyers" earlier this month. The late timing of the firing immediately shifted focus to the search and whether Michigan is already moving in a specific direction. "I wonder if this means they're already down the road with somebody and have a plan," one industry source said. One Power Four athletics director believes that's the case. "I'm going to give Warde (Manuel) credit," the AD said. "I'm going to be shocked if he doesn't have a plan and they haven't already done something." "If I'm Alabama, I'm sitting down with Kalen DeBoer tonight," one agent said Wednesday evening. "Who's still out there who hasn't re-done it? It's DeBoer."

Never happen

BIG n SEC run the CFP system and they havent gone this far with expansion only to blow it up

It will screw Utah in the end

PE firms expect a return on their investment. So in 5 to 7 years - they will want their money plus a return. Utah will need to issue debt. Doubt long term this is smart.

Agreed

The college football playoff committee rankings should not come out until perhaps the last regular season game weekend but most likely the conference championship weekend. Could you imagine if college basketball produced a bracket six weeks ahead of time? There would be so much finger-pointing and who was in didn’t get in etc. etc. so I agree these rankings really need to not come out until late in the process.

I do not see how the CFP committee can jump UM over ND now

If 2 teams in question arent playing, how can one move over another ? It would look like something was rigged. Talking heads are smoking too much.

All depends who you can get.

Of course, Franklin will be influential on scheduling. But it certainly depends on who is available \ has open games. There is a reason these games get set a few years in advance. I am not sure anything will happen. We do not want to give up a home game (think revenue) just b/c it is an easy game. Remember we have to pay for Franklin and his staff and the players...

Ok - I just got it

For those who didnt know about the cookies ** Edited by Turk Malloy at 12/3/2025, 12:42:14 AM

Likely won't but imagine you are OSU or Indiana

They will play this game and it means 100% nothing. These 2 are locked into the first 2 spots - so they only can move down. Amazing to watch the box college football has put itself into.

Why Top 40 ?

Not sure I would pay much attention to this years class. Portal is where the primary action will be.

Its all part of the plan

Not a chance

You need to spend the $ to be relevant. and spend more $ to be something big.You do not want to be irrelevant. It will affect everything - negatively. And by the way, the " ridiculously priced tickets, license fees and parking" are only going higher with this success. The days of 40 dollar tickets, 2 dollar hot dogs and free parking are way long gone. Buck up or let the next guy get in.
