This has not been updated since 03 Aug, but it is an interesting rundown of active Hokies and their salary details. Interesting to see Nijman’s 1-year contract - am assuming it is not guaranteed, though the full value is listed as a cap hit.

Aside from Tyrod, I've never heard any of their names mentioned regarding donations to VT Athletics (or any other part of VT). It's embarrassing how little VT alumni in the NFL give back to the university. Other universities have received millions from their NFL alumni. VT has received hardly anything.

They are the primary beneficiaries of the VT football program (along with the highly paid coaching staff) and should set an example by giving back financially. Why should non-athlete VT alumni contribute to VT football if the primary beneficiaries of the VT football program aren't giving money?

Also: they can give and keep it quiet; making those charges without any evidence appears that u resent our players?? Or is it envy??
They already gave alot for vt with their playing and beating up their body with some long term medical challenges and we get rhe be on the stadium or on the tv sitting on our fanny; sipping a golden refressment with friends amd families.
My only hope that they feel welcomed and always arms open for playing for the vt community

Way back when we had to buy programs those programs listed every Hokie Club donor by giving level. Each year I looked and was appalled by so few football names or at least that I recognized.
And as far as I am concerned, that talk about giving their bodies is crap. They knew and know what football is and once at VT was not the first time they were physically pushed. They knew and know that major injuries can happen even as low as how little league football was played. Don't act like they thought they were going to a tea party.
Full scholarship athletes, no matter the sport and no matter the school have gotten one heck of a deal says a guy who had to pay and knew that the athletes had everything, right down to pencils paid for.

I kind of doubt this because while players do give back, its usually only the ones that have lengthy careers and have made a significant amount. The kind of guys that are also savvy enugh to make money outside of football as well. Not many of these guys exist. Most NFL players don't have that kind of longevity and really can't afford to give their alma mater millions. With that said I do think schools in the SEC have more donors, I'm just not buying that professional athletes are a meaningful part of it.

Drew Brees gave $3M to Purdue
Ndamakong Suh gave $2.6M to Nebraska
Michigan State got $4M from Magic Johnson and $3M from Draymond Green
Roy Hibbert gave $1M to Georgetown
Those are a few that I found in the first 5 minutes of a Google search. VT's pro athletes just don't give much for some reason. If any of them gave $100K or more, it would be trumpeted from the rooftops by VT Athletics. The fact that we never hear anything speaks volumes. Bruce Smith, Steve Johnson, Dell Curry, Andre Davis and Tyrod Taylor are the only pro athlete donors that I have ever heard mentioned for VT.

Didn’t realize Wyatt had such a lucrative deal: 4 years for $56.8 million. Wow.
And Tremaine has 4 years for $72 million, $22 million cash this year. Not a bad gig.

figures represent or how calculated? Reason that I ask is that $25MM figure for Tremaine looks low as a total earnings amount considering his rookie contract and this current one. EDIT: Found the explanation, the $25MM is through 2022. With 2023 he goes to $47MM using 2023 cash value.
Duane Brown is amazing both in career longevity and earnings. It would be interesting to see his take on his initial talks with Cav and how that now plays out with hindsight. Same goes for Wyatt Teller's early move from D to OL.

Wyatt is top 5 OL in NFL, i believe he was rated #1 guard at one time
you're paid for your value.
Everyone is in uproar at RB salaries, and I "agree" to some extent, but the game is played a different way now. Tony Dungy explained it the best.
Anyway, while we're talking Hokies NFL earnings, lets not gloss over Tyrod. Dude is STACKING paper and has a super bowl ring to go along with it.

Once again, Coach Cav was spot on! Duane has one of the longest, highest paying careers in the NFL of any Hokie.

Each player’s name is linked to a collection of salary data. In the case of Brown it reflects yearly salaries between 2008 and 2023, including 2 fines ($149k in 2010 and $80k in 2017).

versus guaranteed money is a stark example of the differences in the CBA between the NFL and MLB and more directly the power of the shield(NFL) versus the power of a strong union(MLB). There's a reason people say the NFL really stands for Not For Long from a players' perspective.

But when you earn enough money to put yourself and your children on easy street, you don't want to give so much away you end up living a lifestyle below what your playing days afforded you. I am not saying athletes shouldn't give to causes they care about, but I do think some of our fans assume that a few years in the NFL means a guy can just stroke a six figure donation check like it's nothing. IMO there aren't enough high earning NFL Hokies to significantly move the needle. If we are going to catch up to other schools the money is going to have to come from us regular folks. I am going to do my part today, because it appears that Pry hasn't wasted my money when it comes to his recruiting efforts.

He was drafted in the 6th round 2 years ago and has worked his way into the starting role. He's setting himself up for a real payday if he keeps it up for another 2 years. If he doesn't, then he'll still earn more than what most 6th rounders have earned, i.e. his full rookie contract.

is tough. Hopefully, his body survives the 4 years and he can get a better deal. Or, he plays well enough to justify a renegotiation. Odds for either to happen are probably not real good.

sticks with da Bears. Too bad OL do not normally show up in box score. Post this in the Hokie locker room to generate some sizzle with current team. Think Tuten might have been influenced by Khalil Herbert and Raheem Blackshear recent success as Hokie RBs? And how bout them Hokie twins? Two sets of twins in the BIG dance & getting pretty good $. Tim Settle showing even as a dependable backup DL, is paying off. Nice to see although I suppose most of our ACC competition has somewhat similar NFL results.
