Do you think we have not hired a DC because we are waiting for a buyout date? Do you think we have a guy we are waiting on or is it because we are swinging and missing?
Could our guy be coaching in the NFL?
What is the buyout date for most coaches?

No H.C. security; {sic: which could damn well include you}. Ditto A.D. No Talent(s). No Experience Curve. A cultural restart in year no.4. Tuffer schedule. And well... the Playars just delta vega (downvoted) the whole shebang and fled in droves after being shockingly adhesive through the initial 2+ years...

The biggest problem with Pry regime from Day 1 was his staff. Now it’s even more challenging.

I think Pry's intent was to get the best and they reached out (VT was offering in the 1.5 million) for home run hire. (that was hard for Whit, but Pry got him to go for it home run hires. Well getting out there in the world, the bidding of these guys (Pry's peersl) and we are seeing the Home run candidates are getting matched for 1.7 to 2 million, and VT looks poor offering 1.5 million)
Also I think Pry might have gone for a younger candidate, but I don't think Whit was comfortable for that. Whit wanted some older guys but they were still demanding as well. 1.5 million and these candidates are end in their career and dont want to recruit. (i.e. Allen now at Clemson). Or dont get the loser ex GT head coach and fired DC at UNC (who gave up 70 points to JMU. So Whit and Pry do not have a meeting on the minds.
Quinn could be the compromise. However, this 'issue between football between Whit and the Football program is getting tired. Gawd if he had NIL in house, his indecisiveness would kill the program.

That is why things that are obvious to many of us years in advance are always hitting them in the face.
I believe the only path forward for VT is to hire an AD from a SEC school.

Marve wasn't a recruiter, and he wasn't the best on X's and O's either. I think Quinn was decent as a recruiter, or at the very least he worked hard at it. If he is our new DC, I hope we hire an ace recruiter to replace him, because his focus should be elsewhere if he is our DC.

coaching I think we can be looking at. Otherwise, I think we have struck out and it goes internal. Pry doesn't seem to be instilling a lot of confidence in the fan base with this one and taking so long to announce internal hire for Strength and Conditioning.

NFL position coaches are completely different experience level than many in the college ranks HOWEVER
1 Tapp mentioned many times his career job is to be a legacy NFL position coach (he is, and on a hot team).
2. NFL position coaches get top money and huge NFL benefits and probably more security than college without recruiting. Why jump back....(and lose that cue in the NFL so many coaches compete for.

His goal was to be an NFL defensive position coach. Family is engrained in the community. He is apparently pretty happy with the CommandSkins.
