I've watched a couple of their games and they play him off the ball quite a bit. They essentially play two point guards: Pedulla and Jaylen Murray, who seems to handle the ball more. He's a transfer from Saint Peter's.

He's playing a different role for them (still as a PG) than what VT asks of their PG
His usage in his 3rd year at VT was too high due to a number of factors
He is now used less (despite playing the same minutes) and he stops turning the ball over
Crazy how that works...

This is my problem with coaches who are too wedded to their system. Instead of taking player X and saying 'how can we use you most effectively, based on your strengths and weaknesses"... far too many coaches say "this is my system, you have to conform to it".
IMHO we are seeing an even more extreme example this year, with multiple players on the roster who appear to be square pegs being forced into round holes.

Then maybe?
Mike Young coaching the way Chris Beard coaches would only mean Mike Young could become the greatest Chris Beard impersonator at his very best
There's a give and take...Chris Beard doesn't really develop post players. So if Mike Young coached like him, Sean Pedulla might be more efficient (he isn't "better" per se) but Lynn Kidd, Justyn Mutts, Keve Aluma, etc would all be less used and less productive.
While we are at it, Mike Young should just copy Matt Painter, recruit someone 7'4 and go play in the Final Four
It simply doesn't work like that.
Chris Beard is a good fit for Ole Miss. A system coach is the best fit in Blacksburg. Genuinely do not care if someone likes Mike Young or not, you're not getting some recruiting guru to come to Blacksburg and change the stars of the program. Buzz tried it, recruited the same as anyone else who had been at VT and got out the first opportunity he could.

Are you aware of why he left Texas?

around watching him try to create a shot, it wasn't good for his numbers?
I'll admit that he forced some things at times, but I can also understand why.

No matter the clear evidence, they will maintain he was no good.....
