We have had ours out since April 1st, with no visible visitors. They also
have been fighting at our feeders the last several years.

Will I think said two posters were getting a two month ban for politics.

Was his effectiveness impacted by his injury and starting ACC play?

Phil is aware of the GoFundMe page and they had to ask his permission to
verify the setup. Thanks again for everything you and everyone else has done!!!!

The fire fighters were unable to determine (so far) what caused the fire.
From my understanding, they think it started at the back of the house either on the deck or possibly in the kitchen. Phil was sleeping and the two ladies were at work when it happened.

That's very kind of you and everyone else in the community! I will pass on
the link to Phil and Stacy tomorrow morning.

Yes, they live in the Grove. Phil was asleep during the time and the dog
started barking and woke him up. Phil was able to get the dog out of his cage and leave the house safely with not much time to spare.
The fire fighters think the fire came from the back deck, or possibly the kitchen on the back side of the house. Although they are not sure what started the fire. On the back deck they had a grill, a hot tub and a fire pit.
Stacy has a daughter that lives close by with two very young grand daughters. Stacy, Phil and Susan spend time assisting Stacy's daughter (Sydney) with the two girls. One of which has a severe form of autism. Sydney is divorced from the girl's father and he lives out of state.
Stacy and Phil are staying with friends. Stacy's mother, Susan, is staying with her sister (my mother) less than a mile away from the Grove. Insurance has been contacted. I'm not sure if it was the insurance provider or the Red Cross that gave them about five hundred dollars to help. Stacy and Phil used it to get a little clothing, food and personal stuff this afternoon.
I think everything will be fine in the end. Susan is a very emotional person and holds onto things. Much like a hoarder mentality. So she is very much in the dumps thinking about old sentimental things she lost, etc. She has always been this way. Stacy and Phil are doing better mentally. Although it is a tough situation and will take much to get back up and running.
Here is a link to the WRIC new article with some other pictures. The videos the firemen took of the blaze were the best indication of the fire. Unfortunately I can't post them.

If I could only post the videos. Nothing like a fireman turning onto the
street and saying "man, I can feel the fire from here" while filming from the fireengine.

My cousin had a house fire around lunch time today at their house in Midlo.
About 5 minutes from me. Thankfully no one was hurt. Here are the pics. Now if I could figure out how to post the videos from the firemen ...

I think the Capitals do not have good defensive D-men who punish the
opposing forwards in front of the net. These top D-men are hard to get. And teams that draft them in the top five usually keep them for their career.
Even with the greatness of Ovie and the Caps winning the cup, I miss the days of our punishing defenders when we had Al Iafrate, Kevin Hatcher, Scott St (nevermind....), etc.

What is the breakdown of the 149M total? Is this just NIL or does it
include other things like student athletic fees, TV revenue, stadium revenue, etc?

Anyone else having problems with posts containing images?
It just keeps on saying submitting and never post on the boards. Looks like it could be a timeout error. The pic is pulled from my pc.

I volunteered at CHKD for many years. There was a girl that had been
terribly abused. Not sexual but more locked in a cage and not given much to eat. She was 7 years old but was 3-4 years old in body development, very malnourished, etc . She sat so long in one position her legs grew into her but. She could not stand up or talk. When they brought her in and put her in the PICU they had to be careful her food, etc. She would watch Spongebob. They gave her toys and she would pull everything very close so afraid to lose them. Very sad situation.
They worked with her and she had a number of operations to get her legs fixed. After two months they moved her to a rehab unit. By six months she had gained weight, looked her age, was rolling around the rehab unit on a manual scooter and walking normally. She was very happy and rebounded quite well. At six months she left the Children's Hospital I think to be adopted or put in foster care. It was fantastic to see just how much she had recovered after six months. Makes you smile to see these sick kids recover and move on to normal lives!!!!

GC-How far in advance does the basketball staff recruit players to VT?
I know in other sports, the VT staff will start targeting and talking with players several years out. Does this happen much in basketball? Do other colleges start recruiting players earlier in their development?

When my dad was in high school, he got drunk and built a bomb. He put
the bomb on a highway overpass. It exploded but did no damage. Witnesses got his license plate when he drove away.
The next day the FBI came to the house. He just got scared by them, no real trouble. My grandfather just laughed at him getting scared....

The GM for basketball (recruiting?) left at the beginning of the season,
which indicated underlying issues. Did we get a new GM in his place? I hope this issue is resolved. So we have a plan in place to address to help target future players, outside the coaching staff.

Have you ever been so deep in the woods its just very eerie? Seems like
there are not even any animals miles within your vicinity? Deathly quiet and foreboding.

I volunteered many years at CHKD (Children's Hospital in Norfolk). Before
she became really famous, she came and visited one of her fans that had cancer. When she came to visit, she used the back service elevators and very few people realized she was there. Just some of the nurses. She didn't want to use it as publicity stunt, etc.
You hear about that with many stars but so many post it on social media, etc. Also, few stars ever came to Norfolk to visit fans. Lots of reports of stars doing that in LA, etc.

With YTTV, you don't need the ESPN Select plan to view ACCNX games. Just
log into the ESPN app with your YTTV account and the games will show as available for viewing.

@GCHokie34 I was watching the Connecticut vs Illinois game yesterday and
some of the players looked to be 25 years or older. It is very possible I am way off and can't judge ages correctly. Although the players to me looked much older than the current Hokies team.
Are there many players in the NCAA that are this old?
I understand certain programs are known for developing players and keeping them for their junior and senior years. I was just thinking our current team is at a disadvantage with so many underclassmen.

English soccer is crazy. Two players on the same team get in a fight in
the 13th minute. One slaps the other. Ref gives a red card to one of the players. The team is now down a player for the rest of the game. They end up beating the other team 1-0. Smh....

I agree. My mother's father was on a ship watching the Normandy landings
and he would never speak about the war, too many bad memories watching them die on the beach.
My father's father was in the Pacific and would tell some just brutal stories.
I had a female friend who was in school during that time. Very few men came back and many of them had alcohol problems, etc. Tough for the women to find a decent man their age. It greatly distressed her all her life.

B-Street. Didn't you write an article of an uncle(?) who played for VT
in the early 50s (possibly late 40s)? He had traveled down by walking from West Virginia to VT and it took a month. With just a few things he took with him and how tough football was back then. If so, do you still have the article or a link to the article? I am not really sure how to search prior football articles to find it.

I had a co-worker who played inebacker for NC State in the 70s. He said
plenty of bag money was handed out then.
