Ok I’m going to risk my man card here
I don’t like Taylor Swift’s politics or that she’s started using some 4 letter words in her music BUT The documentary series is ASTONISHING. The care she had for that crew, dancers, singers was awesome. I do love a lot of her music (not Tortured Poets personally my least favorite) as well….her latest “happy Taylor” Life of a Showgirl may turn out to be her best or my favorite… But love all of her narcissism or not…she’s one of the most selflessly “selfish” stars imaginable. That docuseries is phenomenal Yes she loves the spotlight of course and has to…but the joy she shows bringing & gifting OTHERS joy is amazing. $197 million just in bonuses to her crew & talent!? Also she just donated this year a million to American Heart Association and now Feeding America just before Christmas. Giving spirit IS what Christmas is all about. At least she understands she has an obligation to give back Most importantly to me personally is…as the father of a 12 yr old girl swiftie…watching her show and documentary as well as appreciating her music has allowed a bond between me and my girl that will absolutely last. We have so many song to share that have different meanings but are relevant to so many parts of a girl growing up ** Edited by hokiepro at 12/24/2025, 10:00:53 AM

I volunteered many years at CHKD (Children's Hospital in Norfolk). Before
she became really famous, she came and visited one of her fans that had cancer. When she came to visit, she used the back service elevators and very few people realized she was there. Just some of the nurses. She didn't want to use it as publicity stunt, etc. You hear about that with many stars but so many post it on social media, etc. Also, few stars ever came to Norfolk to visit fans. Lots of reports of stars doing that in LA, etc.

That's awesome. Seems like that's how she operates.

I think you did not like her initially but we're able to Shake It Off

I don't really listen to her music, but she seems to be a world class
human being. Her generosity is off the charts. I kinda wish my daughter was into her music, so I could take her to a show. That seems like it would be incredible to witness.

I think she's a phenomenal songwriter and artist
I also like how her stuff doesn't all sound the same. So many times I've heard a new song on the radio and was astonished to find it was hers.

With stars these days, the question really is how many writers they use.

Yep. People who say her stuff is all the same…don’t know her discography

Swift is really good at what she does. I like many of her songs.
I have a lot of.respect for her and her talent. That said, I'll still make fun of her at times...but I'll also listen to some of her songs. Opalite and Ophelia are good ones from her new stuff. The kids in class love it when I play some Swift and sing along.

Yes. Also the song “Life of a Showgirl” is quite the statement
About a girl dreaming of being on stage & then proving those who told her she’s “never gonna know” but becomes only the biggest “showgirl” ever Brilliant writing and “spoiler alert” Perfect song for end credits to that show Her talent as a producer & director is insane too…just witness the “Ophelia” video ** Edited by hokiepro at 12/24/2025, 10:22:21 AM

Every stop on her tour she donated enough money to fund the food bank at
the particular locale for the entire year.

This is a whole new you, pro. Before now, I never thought of the Lounge as
a place to share positive feelings for others, but good on ya! [Editor's Note: I do not like Taylor and could not recognize any of her music because whatever airplay I program into my skull isn't contemporary (Classic rock & Classical). I will, thanks to you, however, send in my TS Roadie Application ASAP!]

I highly recommend the docuseries
It’s one of the most amazing stories, accomplishments, etc Those performers danced, played & sang for 3+ hours a night and changed the show up too…just unreal talent. Respect

As with all your sports board posts, I'll take your word for it ....

I’m more open minded than you may think
My wife calls me Jeckyll Hyde Nice guy outside of Hokie game mode when Hyde comes out 🤷🏻‍♂️ As I’ve told Will..unfortunately I’ve used the boards too much in game…I’m a massive Hokie of course…but my venting mechanism instead venting frustration to people around me (in person) I’ve used the boards too much for sure

Pro, if anything, you seem extremely positive and invested in VT sports.
There is nothing in the world wrong with that.

I don't read your posts as some do with prejudice. Your in-game angst...
...isn't unique to moment by moment Hokiedom. Frankly, I get irritated with the bashers who jump on EVERY post, regardless of its relevance.

We all have days/times when we need to vent our frustrations.
It’s way better to do that on these anonymous boards than with our family members, where real relationships can be damaged. Of course, we’re like a family here, too. Complete with curmudgeons, fanatics, film buffs, car guys, puzzle solvers, and weirdos. Even a couple who follow UVA sports, whatever that is. Our family tree is full of nuts!

LOL. Same here. Evidently you and I share that relationship with Will.

I use the boards that way, too, especially when I'm watching alone. No one
to cheer with or complain to other than the good folks of TSL then.
