Posting History (828)

I just look at it as VT being such a historically, cough, offensively

challenged football school ---- that the teams just needed some encouragement and instruction on what to do for points

imhokieprossible

When D isn't played well: no stops, and therefore not a lot of separation

in score differential. Other than Clemson, double digit wins are tough to come by. When every game comes down to the wire, end of game dynamics and hi basketball IQ matters. add in injuries -- and all these multifaceted reasons -- simply increases the probability of close heart break losses (and the OT wins) VT has seen.

Since this is college basketball...is it possible to lose ourselves into a

NCAA tournament bid? Which games should VT focus the losing on to best get that bid? /s

It's all the CMY slow half court offensive sets in the first half (in

order to play to CMY's philosophy, which is to favor offensive efficiency) instead of just sometimes letting his athletes loose. When it works (playing to offensive efficiency) and he has the players: ACC title. When it doesn't, his teams can fall way behind -- too far to have any real chance of winning. Other teams know this. ** Edited by hokienole at 2/7/2026, 2:06:12 PM

this sentence read a little off, is it the opposite?

"VTs opponents play worse when Neo is off the floor because their game plan has to shift from Neo being the focal point to a more balanced approach." should this be: "VTs opponents play worse when Neo is on the floor because their game plan has to shift from a more balanced approach to Neo being the focal point." I wouldn't think your point would be that VT opponents play worse when Neo is off the floor (implying VT is a better team with Neo off the floor), but VT opponents play worse when he's on the floor. Maybe i'm misunderstanding...

The football program under Pry was a lost cause. But relative to

expectations, and Young saying he had a good team (and they ain't bad), and Avdalas projected as 1st round pick and Drones... not. Well, lots of differences. ** Edited by hokienole at 2/2/2026, 12:32:11 AM

The fact that this fanbase is essentially cock blocked and frustrated at a

lack of success for a decade and half now I'm sure is not helping. We got: 2014 OSU in football 2016 season in football 2022 ACC Title in Men's bball 2023 Final 4 in Woman's bball We need a lil more frequency in successes in the sports people pay attention to. ** Edited by hokienole at 2/1/2026, 2:43:50 AM

Neo to me didn’t seem to grasp that his increased notoriety would increase

the attention he’d get from opposing players, and play through that and adjust accordingly. Sometimes I think he needs an injection of β€œI don’t give a F anymore” (except early-in-shot-clock 3 ptrs near end of game).

General observation, VT inordinately looks to the refs for a missed foul

with sarcastic arm / hand gestures after the fact, often allowing the opposing team to gain leverage on the change of possession.
