None at all. Not unless your kid is on the team.
In that case then yes, you support that team.
But you are under no obligation to be a walking billboard for a school that you did not attend. My daughter went to my high school's rival, and both of my kids attend schools other than VT. Our relationships are not harmed one iota by my not jumping whole hog into some ____ Nation that I was not actually a part of myself.

"I didn’t understand what I was doing before doing it"
I suspect the actual problem here is that the instruction set provided to the model were not explicit enough about what "destructive and irreversible" actual meant.
I use Claude Code all the time. There's an option that has the agent stream out its though process instead of just giving a blinking "thinking..." prompt while it goes about its business. I like to open those and follow along, especially early on in any given iteration. It's kind of wild all of the different directions it can go, the gaps it finds in what I thought were clear instructions, and the assumptions it sometimes makes to try and figure out what I meant.
Claude is a junior developer. It's a very fast junior developer, but it also makes all those same junior developer mistakes really fast. It should NEVER have permissions to do anything more than you would let any other junior dev do.

Because he's on a contract
VT does not have to let him manage the Athletic Department. VT does have to pay him for the remainder of his term.
That's how contracts work. Suck it up.

The whole concept of watching a sportsball draft kind of blows my mind
It hearkens back to schoolyard days, when we 6th graders would assemble on the blacktop to watch the 5th graders pick teams in gym class.

Tech is not quite there yet
Close. But not quite. Those few seconds between the call, the challenge, and the result make a significant difference in the accuracy of the final call. If that happened on every single pitch people would complain about the delay

Time is an unstoppable force
The problem these once lovely ladies have is acceptance, or lack thereof.

I think you answered your own question
This feels to me like simple efficiency. Organic gas generation is a biproduct of food consumption, and if they can harness that for minor course corrections then they have that much real fuel to use later for other things.

It tells you a lot about a man
Oh, no. No, a man washes his hands before or after tending to his needs. It tells you a lot about a man. He does it both times - points to a weakness in character.

I am, actually
And I would rather they spend the rest of the season playing the young guys big minutes, and let the chips fall where they may, than chase an early playoff exit

It's very arguable
Part of the mystique of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is that Wilco's record label thought so poorly of the album that they dropped the band rather than release the album.
It's a good album...in parts. It's also weird and artsy...in more parts. There are maybe 2? 3? Songs that are remotely radio friendly. It's definitely not a super commercially viable enterprise.

That's an absolutely horrible idea
If Congress wanted to actually be useful (no really, stop laughing) they would strip away the notion of non-profit from the entirety of the collegiate athletic enterprise. Or at least the revenue sports.
If they want to be a big business, be a big business. If they want to be amateurs, be amateurs. Don't mix and match based on some decades-old fantasy.

I'm partial to Homo Sapiens myself
Not only do we go wherever we want and do our darndest to engineer it to our liking, most other invasive species were brought to their new home by us.

It's $20.5M
I'm sure there will be a $20.5M line item in the publicly available university financial disclosures...when those are release for FY2026. The university has publicly stated that they will be spending to the cap.
I'm sure there is NOT a breakdown of payments to particular individuals.
The former ($20.5M) will have an impact to the extent that athletic department spending affects other parts of the school budget.
The latter is what the University is resisting releasing. Mostly because no good can come of it.

Revenue Sharing is not NIL
Revenue Sharing is official Virginia Tech dollars. There's a capped amount that the school is permitted to share with the athletes that make the revenue streams profitable. We should probably assume that VT is sharing the maximum permitted amount with our athletes in total, so the only question is the precise distribution of how many dollars and to which players. "Shadow costs" aren't really a thing in this case.
NIL is where the private entities come into play. Those aren't subject to FOIA, and those are where the real abuses almost certainly lie.

Question
Was your daughter an early-action applicant and waitlisted? Or a regular-decision applicant?
Mine own is the latter and has not heard anything yet either way

Very entertaining show. Didn't understand a word.
Dude put on a full show. I'm a 50+ dude who doesn't expect to be the target audience and that's ok, but I was entertained.

Worse than burying the lede
They didn't even report it.
"It didn’t smell like gasoline, didn’t smell like tobacco spit."
...but what DID it taste like?
