Day 3 from my trip to the dermatologist for a skin cancer check, and
I still look like a Leper or something. She said I had pre-cancerous sun damage all over my face and asked if I wanted
to burn it off? Precancerous, you say? Uhhh...who is saying no to that? So she trots out a spray can of dry ice or something, and goes to town. I feel like my entire face is on fire, but I'm cool with it. I don't want cancer. She said it was going to leave red spots temporarily - was I good with that? OK, I'm an overweight 65 year old - I'm not exactly easy on the eyes already, so who cares? Let it rip, I say. But I wasn't ready for the reactions when I am out and about, like at the grocery store. People get a load of my face and give me a wide berth. Mothers grab their child's hand and quickly usher them away. I'm a freak, I tellya. And by the looks of things, I'm guessing this could last a month. Should I put a "I'm not contagious" sign on me somewhere? Or stagger up close to people, shake and drool?
Next life kids, don't ask for blond hair and blue eyes...or make sure you buy yourself a big straw hat.

So yeah, pretty good job. It was is a little reddish and I could feel a little teeny tiny scab so was stressing out a little bit. And then I think crap I’m nearing 70 and all things considered. I’m doing OK and oh yeah no one‘s looking at you.
And on top of that months later, the reddishness and scab have gone away.
I will say after the great burn of ‘74 I got the message and I’ve covered up since then. Spent a lot of time outdoors though.

Catch stuff in the bud. I worked on farms and construction in teens through college along with childhood sunburns. Is what it is and I’ve been liquid N2d, FUd (5-fluorouracil) and had one negative biopsy.

My boss had a liquid solution that resulted in purple splotches. He took the week off. Came back to work and the splotches THEN appeared. Embarrassed, but no one cared. Cleared up, of course, over time.
Fortunately, mine, including 3 facial melanomas, all started after I retired.
And this, too, shall pass!

I mean sure....those precancerous cells could become basal cell carcinomas in 10 years, that left untreated could be a real problem for you another 20 years after that.
How long do you plan on living?
