She made a lot of great memories for Hokie fans, but without Liz, her presence and impact on the future results is not as devastating as some think. Chose otherwise. Don’t begrudge her, but I also won’t celebrate her in a different uni. It was her choice. She will always be a Hokie, but her reputation will be that she left.

Base next year. She could have a great year, and it will be in front of less fans and less appreciation. Kentucky is a men’s basketball school. To move the needle, Kenny will need to win and win fast. My guess is that our current coach is at VT longer than Kenny is at UK.

I understand and appreciate her decision to transfer to KY. But I will never again care what she does or follow her career. Same as any non Hokie player. It just is what it is.

You are overlooking her coming back as coach sets a bad example that it is ok to be disloyal to your school. My daughter went to UNC as a grad student. Earned her PhD in Chemistry. She gave me a UNC tee shirt as a gift. I wore it to a wine tasting and was mistaken as a UNC graduate. Not only did i not shake the guys hand (which I should have) but I was insulted to be called a Tar Heel. Georgia will forever be called a Kentucky Wildcat. Any awards and recognitions she receives she will be listed as University of Kentucky not Virginia Tech. She is a ghost to me and that is where she will stay in my mind. Having said all this every one here she think of her the same way and not post any message with her name.

And, not the Georgia part. I'd love for her to have stayed 1 more year. But, she had a bond with KB. He left, so she left. That happens. It happens in the workplace, too. If my boss leaves the company and recruits me to their new company, if the deal is right... I am going. When I was a student, if there was a professor that I bonded with and was helping me achieve my goals ... if they left and told me it would be great for my future if I came with them, I'd consider it. (Of course, for me, that would be Professor Coors Light ... but I digress). And, to your point about wearing a UNC t-shirt and then being insulted. It is, frankly, just petty and rude. UNC is a good academic school. If the people didn't know you, that is an honest question to ask. I have family who went to VCU and JMU... I've worn both schools colors at events to support them. If I were mistaken for an alum of either school, I wouldn't feel insulted, I'd nicely correct them... but to feel offended is just childish.

And I think she will really make a huge impact in her home country. I wish her the best and no injuries (but yes for next year and always I want UK to lose)

If you mean by "trashing," that people are saying that it matters that she transferred, in regard to retiring her number, that is not the same thing AT ALL as "trashing." Would be great to see posters on here stop attacking straw men that do not exist. Or straw fans, in this instance.

If for whatever reason she didn't want to play in the WNBA, being an assistant coach at Kentucky after next year would be a great gig for her.

Would love to have Georgia on a VT sideline again someday...and will always love, admire, and welcome her back here with open arms. Some of you also seem determined to read into what you assume her thoughts and feelings are about Blacksburg and Virginia Tech in light of her decision...despite what she has directly said. One of the posts she recently liked on Twitter might help those of you who are skeptical better understand where her head is... it says in part... "Imagine thinking Georgia Amoore is no longer a Hokie. She will always be a Hokie. She gave everything to VT for 4 years." I am not pretending it isn't (very) hard to see her in a different jersey...but try to walk a mile in her shoes and understand the choice she had to make here. And if you actually listen to her, she has been quite clear about her love for this town and this university. She's forever a Hokie to me.

learned something from each one. People in business understand this as important. By hanging on Brooks’ coatttails another year, she will be learning nothing new. If coaching is really what she wants, would be so much better to play/learn under someone new. Not saying it has to be Duffy. But someone else besides Brooks. Appears she’s just putting another year in, awaiting Brooks to hire her next year to add to his staff. Sure. Safe bet for her. But really learning something new about coaching? Don’t think so.

Schools like VT, when their student athletes play for them, they are considered family, not an employee. They chose to join the family. So it hurts and disappointment. This world has changed, players go to schools, but their no 1 is they are not going to school x to present the fans but primarily helping their career financially. IF they are comfortable fine, but if different things come up they can leave... In this new era, we cheer the programs of our colleges, and if the team succeeds great, invest in keeping them here, and invest alot. another is never get too high or low on transfers, that conduct also affects other student athletes who may want to come here. Never burn bridges.
