Pete is a good coach!
I don’t think he is in that range though. ** Edited by vtdwight at 5/29/2023, 9:33:42 PM

Here's the latest BOV report I could find
It's for 2022 but is probably in the neighborhood Base salary: $215,000 Car: $9,250 Country Club Membership: $4,360 Total Comp: $228,610

LOL, Country Club Membership.
It cracks me up that they still put the Country Club Membership in coaches' contracts. That strikes me as a good-ole-boy 1970s football coach throwback clause, back when coaches had time to golf and schmooze fatcat local donors in the offseason. I'm willing to be convinced otherwise, but that just seems like a silly throw-in. Now, the car allowance? That's legit. Everybody drives, and I like cars.

It wasn’t for Hugh Freeze when at Liberty had played
at BCC probably 5 days a week.

Some of the coaches live in the country club neighborhood

Yeah, he's pretty good too.

Anymore I think that's a spouse / family expectation.
A perc they expect and use as much as the good old boys doing business on the golf course.

Thing is, for what their salary and bonuses are, they can afford to PAY for
a country club/pool membership like the rest of us schmucks have to pay making WAYYY less. Just my .02 :)

Salary is about right for what his teams have accomplished over the years
compared to the big shots, big money coaches above who have gone to CWS. VT considered middle of the road compared to them. If Coach Pete can get over the hump and go to CWS year-in year-out, then his compensation should increase in accordance with his accomplishments. VT is a good team, but not a CWS team. Hitting/offense is very good, pitching is average.

We got him at a good price
hokiepro hokiepro
Need to pay for an assistant; just charging for games could do that
And he needs to make $300k
VaTechHokiesACC VaTechHokiesACC
I would have no problem with that amount
I just meant we have him cheap.

He's a bargain compared to the baseball coach

About same as Utah coach.
He deserves a raise though

You're correct on both counts.
