Watched Bevacqua’s press conference - a big nothing burger
He still expresses anger at the ACC for social media posts and is cryptic about what Notre Dame might do about it. Makes valid points about why the whole ESPN dog and pony show over the weekly rankings is problematic. But otherwise is just a Notre Dame guy with a high opinion of all things Notre Dame.
Slick character. Should have apologized for his remarks and avoided making more of them, but didn’t. Suggests the lawyers have advised him that a couple social media posts don’t make good grounds for an exit, especially when coupled with Notre Dame’s breach of its bowl participation agreement.

that got his current seat by shepherding ND's last TV contract with NBC to fruition. He's mad right now because in his first real big boy assignment for ND as their AD he botched it with arrogant assumptions versus completing it with the industry knowledge and know how he was supposed to represent. Listening to Bevacqua whine reminds of the Two and a Half Men episode where Judith is berating Alan and Charlie and threatening consequences. After she is through and gone, the boys just walk away with derisive voices mocking the "there will be consequences, REAL CONSEQUENCES" threat. I hear those voices every time Bevacqua opens his mouth.

Notre Dame AD Pete Bevacqua: “The ACC is important to us, and we’re important to the ACC.” Mentions how many opponents sell out games vs. Notre Dame & TV viewership is higher for football games vs ND.
I also saw one where he talked about meeting with the ACC to go over their complaints, but now is not the right time. Something about needing to cool off. He's obviously very mad right now.

He's mad at the ACC, mad at the Committee, and mad at ESPN. It's the whole thing. Doesn't appreciate the 5th grade musical chairs that went on. He said he contacted the Miami AD and wished them luck to go far in the CFP. He will eventually speak with the ACC about this when he's not as emotional. They have somebody going to the Heismann thing in New York this weekend. So maybe after that.

He said he called Jim Phillips last week to complain about the social media posts.
It doesn't appear that the ACC did anything about it so his complaint must have fallen on deaf ears - as they should have.

I guess the Notre Dame AD didnt read the instructions of their membership condition.
THey are independent, and ND agreee to average 5 games against ACC teams, and quid pro quo, ACC alllowed ND to participate in the ACC bowl package. SImple as that.
Now if would choose to join the conference, ACC can change the perspective.

Basically just laying out ND facts vs. Miami facts in a way that made it clear Miami should be the CFP pick.
It's not like there was some "ND sucks!" campaign.

If you get that call, you either throw Notre Dame a bone or tell the social media team to throw some more rocks at the SEC schools. It’s not that hard to point out that Bama lost to a bad FSU team and had three losses, that an unbeaten FSU team got left out because it lost its quarterback so why judge Ole Miss to be the same team when its coaching staff has been gutted, or even argue that Oklahoma was offensively challenged down the stretch. Then keep throwing more rocks at Notre Dame.

This is all a big reality show.
Phillips could strip naked, walk around the GameDay set and try to pit every side against each other and no one would think the lesser.

him show bravado. If this ends with getting a new ACC Commissioner faster that has media experience from the media side of the table, then I will be the first one clapping. Having a former AD running a conference today is incompetent at this time. In the meantime, it sound like the lawyers pulled him back, but with your former NBC AD, I think you are preparing to leave and get all your games with NBC. I have said it before, ND out negotiates everybody including the SEC and B1G.

Now if Notre Dame is willing to pay the ACC for the rights to the ACCN at the same value (or greater than) as ESPN's rate, then I am sure the ACC would have handled things differently. Notre Dame clearly knows which side its bread is buttered on, so it should not surprise anyone that the ACC does too. Notre Dame isn't going to bite the hand (aka NBC) that feeds it, so why should it expect the ACC to bite the hand (aka ESPN) on Notre Dame's behalf?

We just wouldn’t have Bevacqua making an arse of himself.
No one in the history of earth changes a multi-million dollar relationship over a social media post or two. If ND wants out, the respectable, classy thing to do is simply say to the ACC suits, “Times change fellas, and this is no longer our best way of doing business.” Don’t go looking for petty grievances that you can try to inflate into a talking point at the negotiating table. It’s silly and weak.
