Not sure how it would work, but the Acc....
Needs out of the contract with ESPN and renegotiate with the highest bidder. That's obvious, but it needs to happen.

VT and Miami need to be good and win OOC P5 games consistently. UNC has enough resources to win at least 8 games every year and 10 fairly consistently. Same with UVa and NCSU. Do that and the dollars will follow.
ESPN's part is to stop downplaying the ACC in FB and BB every freaking second. In undermines our marketability, feeds the narrative, and gives them a self fulfilling prophecy to continue underpaying us. Just stop.

Seems to me the total amount of payout from advertisers has prettywell maxed out. We are not in an add more to grow more but rather we are in a get rid of most and put the $$$ where the most net out of revenues can be obtained.
I still think the media/ESPN wants less teams sharing the pie.

and the league divides it. The media may not want to show BC/Syracuse but that's a league decision. ESPN may "suggest" a game but it's limited.

expanding the NCAA tournament, and get the Sweet 16 paid off like the playoff 12. Lastly, the ACC should be getting more teams in the NCAA Tournament. They to make a bigger fuss about it.

For the next 12 years. We are one of only three conferences to have a widely distributed conference TV network. We haven’t even realized the full value of that network until this upcoming year.
When the 12-team playoff hits (which we have one auto bid to and possibly at large bids if any of our teams other than Clemson can play like they should) we will receive substantially more money. (I know, the SEC and B1G will get more, but we will get more than $40M as a result. If there is unequal revenue distribution for playoff teams, guess what, VT can profit off that if we can improve our football team.
I don’t know that any ACC teams outside Clemson or Florida State can do any better while still holding an easier schedule to get us to a potential playoff bid and that cash.
Everybody in the ACC has less than a decade (maybe less than 5 years) to get their collective sh#+ together.

Fox? NBC? CBS? It's never going to happen. Not in this economy and not with the product that the ACC has. And what would happen to the ACC Network? The ACC is contractually obligated to be with ESPN until at least 2036 and that isn't changing.

YouTubeTV (google) just bought the NFL Sunday Ticket, The NFL next season will stream a 1st round playoff game exclusively on Peacock, Amazon now streams the NFL Thursday night games. Rumor is NASCAR is going to sign a deal that has Amazon streaming all of its xfinity series races, WWE has an exclusive streaming deal with Peacock… There are actually more options now than ever. Disney right now is struggling financially so they may not be willing to put up a big number but you never know.

Couldn't the Mag 7 negotiate a 5 year deal with ESPN, basically, 75% of what they were expecting to pay the ACC? ESPN gets to pay less and only for the teams they wanted anyway. Mag 7 gets a 50% bump in their media distro and aren't stuck together until their kindergartners are in college. Win-Win unless you are the Forlorn 7.

The past few years have had very little football success, and basketball has lost several hall of fame coaches and appears to have been caught by the B12 and Big East for on court success in the tournament.
Some individual schools can get better deals based on brand value or geography, but the ACC as a whole is not going to get higher bids at this point. It's either stick with ESPN or break up. Nobody is going to pay more for the current ACC product.

Programs have to fund the delta themselves.s FIND IT instead of crying about it. If it means naming rights on every icon to get the delta dollars. If it requires premium seating great do it. and it requires these so called fans, who are thing and crying and want to leave the ACC, to write a check, hey its tough, it might require 1000 -2000 dollar donation. That's the battlefield challenge of the ACC.
IF the top football brands of ACC just win again, it will take care of itself. First the ACC schools need to win the big stage OOC games. Miami beat A&M , FSU beat LSU and well as clemson and UNC do the same. then in the scheduling the all play each other, so it could end up could be bunch of 10-2 records. Then for VT (crazy hope with our schedule ) most games are competitive (probably except FSU). VT does their job in OOC games and acc just lose to FSU and boom, the Acc has Miami, FSU, clemson UNC at 10-2 and VT 11-1. and what is the National narrative then???

You might be on to something here, as in my opinion, the conference media deals are peanuts compared to what you can do for your program in the new expanded playoffs.
Win, baby, win. Otherwise you will be in the Big12, Big East, or the leftover ACC.
A media contract, or being in the P2, will do nothing for your program except a fat checking account.
Indiana, Rutgers, Maryland, Purdue, Minnesota, NEBRASKA, Northwestern, Illinois, Iowa...................................
I mean, C'mon man, Except for Nebraska's previous blue blood status, where does VT fit in the hierarchy of the P2?
You may belong in the SEC because of your passionate fans, and some success in football, but the rest of the country doesn't even know you exist - until you win.

You are basically saying the ACC has to consistently play above historical averages or standard deviation. Better odds of a number of donors buying lottery tickets with money there were going to donate in the hopes of a big win to donate.

Clemson, FSU, and UNC should be pretty darn good. I expect Miami to be better than VT in year 2. UVA will probably struggle but we will see. NC State should be solid. Hope the Wolfpack have a good year. Clemson, FSU, and UNC all have really good QB’s especially UNC. VT and UVA will probably be the worst of this 7.

Problem is there are no bidders even bidding close to where they were. You take ESPN out, and no bidders at all. The Big East tried that in 2003, and ended up lower than where they started.
