FSU now saying they never wanted to leave the ACC
Even though their complaint against the ACC says that it serves as notice to leave. Looks like neither the SEC nor the B1G really want them

It's not about FSU and/or Clemson definitely joining this conference or that conference. That's ultimately irrelevant to the lawsuits. It's about them taking back their own media rights and the ability to negotiate their own value when the conference administration (they allege) has committed a major breach of its fiduciary duty to its membership.
We can sit here and argue the particulars all day and all night, but the cold, hard fact will remain that Vanderbilt and Northwestern football both now are making double what FSU and Clemson football make from their media rights - it's hard to argue that a competent administrator could reasonably allow that to happen.
I'm not sure why anyone here, on a Virginia Tech message board, would gloat about FSU's failures, because VT is in exactly the same boat. Does anyone here think VT football has HALF the media value of Northwestern? Vanderbilt? Mississippi State? Illinois? Maryland? South Carolina? THAT's the real issue, not conference affiliation. FSU and Clemson chose to do something about it, and, for better or worse, agitate for change, rather than sit around with their thumbs up their rear ends waiting on something to change.

it's that Purdue and Missouri are. Add a little salt in the wound that UCF and Cincy are making about the same as FSU. We all see it, we all know it, and we are all in the wrong conference if we want to make money off of Ohio States coattails.

zippy, nada. Just one more mouth to feed. And let's face it, the BIG has zero interest in it as well. It isn't a fit geographically, academically, or even athletically. Nobody in the florida media market is going to suddenly become interested in the BIG if FSU were to join it. Thus again, one more mouth to feed without added benefit.

Competitive financially to the SEC. The ACC provides them with a much easier route to the playoffs than they would have in the SEC. But they will never be happy in the ACC unless the money issue can be addressed. Same with everyone else in the ACC. Fsu is not the only school wanting out, they're just the one publicly saying it. I'm not going to criticize FSU for saying what everybody else is unofficially saying. Everybody on this board is talking about wanting to get into the P2. The fact that FSU said it publicly and officially is not something I'm going to criticize. Plus, I think everyone who thought their school had a shot at the P2 was hoping FSU would be successful in finding a way to break the grant of Rights so that other schools could follow.

Acc to be competitive financially with the SEC. And if that was the case then they would prefer to stay in the ACC. But they were also extremely clear, that the money was not competitive with the P2 and they saw no means of it becoming competitive with the P2. And So they clearly said goodbye, we are leaving. Maybe it was not about what they preferred would happen. But they left no doubt about the fact that it was going to happen.

It's not and never has been about the conference affiliation itself, it's about the money. It's hard to compete with Alabama and Ohio State anyway, but it becomes absolutely impossible when Disney is giving them (not to mention Vanderbilt) $90 million every year while only giving you $45 million.

not just say we got new information that makes us want to stay. Their statement on leaving is public record, so recognize that, and say after getting more information, we currently believe it’s in our best interest to stay.

To stay either. Just trying to keep their options open. Maybe they liked the ACC getting two teams in the playoffs. And realized that with the competition in the SEC they might have a hard time ever seeing the playoffs.

Sorry to be blunt. But 'while they have been an outstanding contributor to the ACC, they are are a real pain. They have won a lot of stuff including football. I don't want to see them go anywhere, but goodness. Get a Grip!
I still want to see USF come to the ACC. We'll see if that can happen
What this statement tells you is that they don't have a better option. If they don't, I doubt Clemson does either.

Cal beating Auburn on the road, and SMU making the playoffs while you finished on the bottom of the ACC should have humbled them.
I think they still believe that it is the year 2008 and they are still the top team in the ACC not realizing that the ACC is better in football than they are given credit for by ESPN. Pretty much any ACC team can beat another team on any given weekend, and this season proved that.

The FSU hissy fits are very old. I would like to see them decide to stay. They do contribute much to the ACC.
But I'd like to line up USF to replace FSU. i don't believe FSU is bought into the ACC, and they are not reliable. And as conferences go like the transfer portals, teams come and go anyway.
