Thinking about FSU
If FSU president was not talking BS. Meaning potential of desiring the BIG. Does this mean the SEC not interested? Notice, I said if. I still think he is desiring something else. For conversation what if the SEC has no desire for FSU. That is/would be huge imho.

I don't envision the B1G adding in a state where the SEC has the Flagship. I see them adding the last Big XII flagship in Kansas and potentially others out of the PAC12. They could go after FSU, GT, and Clemson. But I doubt it. They might add a second school from one of their existing states like Iowa State. But so far they have resisted that. Fox seems to be pushing them into markets like New York, Washington, DC, Los Angeles. They still have Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Denver, Phoenix to look at and analyze.
Watching them destroy the PAC12 isn't very appealing though.

re: PAC12. The big 10 has been in some kind of partnership with the PAC12 schools since WWI. What they’re doing is disgusting.

I don't think Flagship status would matter that much....
if the B1G could get into Florida, one of the most populated states. They didn't add the Flagship university in California... yet. Maybe they add Cal-Berkeley soon? The AAU qualification would mean little if the B1G could get into Florida and SEC country.
As long as the ACC has its GOR, the B1G and SEC won't be interested. The B1G will likely raid the Pac-12 and possibly a school in the Big 12, but I think that they'll get to 20 by going west. IMHO, I think the B1G has cooled off on Notre Dame. Iowa State makes sense but I don't see them in the B1G's plans. They add no value. Kind of like if the SEC added Texas Tech or Baylor. They simply don't need them. Like everyone here knows, the B1G and SEC would love to raid the ACC but that pesky GOR is preventing it. John Swofford wasn't a good conference commissioner, but his GOR is saving the ACC momentarily. Who would of thunkit? ;)

The Big Ten has a ND only escalator clause in its TV deals.
A set amount is stipulated to be paid if ND joins.

Or are you asking the board to just accept your screenshot at face value? Is that the B1G's way to possibly prop up the value of NBC's rumored ND figure for one more independent run to the possible next renegotiation window in 2029-2030 or to negotiate ND's B1G entry through their media partners? There seems to be some interesting strategy plays being made either by the B1G or in concert with ND. Given Swarbrick's dance with Sankey previously on the CFP old Jack seems to be pretty resourceful playing both sides against the middle. That could prove to be a very sound and beneficial strategy, however, it might get him squashed like a fly between the swatter and the wall too. ;-)

Very interesting revelation about the Big Ten contract. Specific dollar increase if ND joins. Anyone else, no guarantee of anything.

not on Twitter. Only question now is which hat/PR mouthpiece are they wearing B1G, ND or both? I think the other questions I asked earlier are even more likely now given the sources originating the info.

fits that bill better than any from the ACC. Miami like UVa pulls/has a lot of students/alums from up North, I just don't see Miami going to conference with a strong southern culture.
I still think a lot of this is to get ESPN to get off of their wallet. There is a lot of poker getting played right now.

IF the rumor of FSU and Miami has any legs, makes perfect sense.
Southern Ca, and Florida, hmmmmmmm
I hope the smart marketing folks at VT, convince the media folks that VT is Northern Va/ DMV and Virginia is NOT a player in that market AT ALL

about 10 other ACC schools. They don't have some magic bullet that's not available to Clem, UNC, UVA, VT, MIA, NCST, PITT, GT, Louisville.
Every ACC school wants more money to compete. Every ACC school realizes the uncertainty of expansion and the financial gap between ACC and SEC/BIG. Every ACC school is diligently working to put themselves in the best position possible. FSU is just the loud mouth of the group. Not sure why their Prez is garnering so much attention.

some of the schools you mentioned. Not saying they have some way out of the ACC that others dont have, just saying when/if the ACC losses teams that FSU is in a better position than some others.
Personally, if I were an FSU fan I would like the fact that the FSU Prez is speaking out on this topic - shows that it is top of mind for him and very important to the University that he runs. It may influence some decision makers within the SEC/BIG when/if the time comes to pick off ACC teams. The P2 will want to grab schools that hold sports in very high regards from the top tier of their university. Why add a school were the U Prez is not all in on sports?

their President saying something out loud doesn't improve their position, it's just a publicity stunt meant to ease the anxiety of FSU fans. He could accomplish everything he said without saying he's doing it to the national media.

the conference than the SEC will do it. Just like they told aTm to sit down and shut up in regards to UTx, they will do the same to UFla. This is all about driving revenue at this point and getting to 20-24 teams in each of the P2. I think that FSU is too "big of a brand" to be left out of the P2 when all is said and done.

They are too big to ignore and the state of Florida is too big to ignore. Clemson is a curious case for comparison. Better product on the field currently, but Clemson has numerous drawbacks. F$U has a better overall athletic program. F$U generates more revenue even with a football program in the mud. South Carolina is a smaller state. My gut tells me the SEC is willing to add F$U but starve out Clemson by leaving them in whatever low rent conference survives the next round of realignment, be it Big XII or ACC. Leaving Clemson in the cold can enrich USC and the Tigers will slowly fade into obscurity.

think Miami is a top shelf pick for both the SEC and the B1G - even more so than FSU. So...., would the SEC add both FSU and Miami just to keep the B1G out of Fla? Interesting game of chess being played with big $ on the line. Fun to watch and speculate for sure. Just wish that VT was in the SEC already - would be more fun to watch and less nerve racking ;-)

Miami is private and FSU is public. Miami's campus is landlocked due to the geography and Coral Gables. I don't know FSU's campus situation, but I would think the state would step in if FSU wants to expand its campus and it is in the state's best interest to go along with the plan. Plus, FSU is located in the capital city so it may have more influence among the state politicians.

Florida (and the SEC) may have to decide which is the lesser of 2 evils.

Big Ten team instead of a SEC team even though the recruit received offers from schools in both conferences? According to this Yahoo article, dated July 5, 2022, Ohio State, Michigan State, Rutgers, and Maryland appear to be the top 4 Big Ten schools that recruit the hardest in the state of Florida.
