athletes, not the school. When you get down to the lower divisions, or NAIA, or even the Juco's - those athletic departments do not generate the kind of revenue to pay the scholarships, so they are covered by different sources, including the school budget itself. Many are partial scholarships, reduced tuition, or no scholarship at all. I find it very interesting that is was an Ivy League institution that won the right for collective bargaining, as the Ivy league extends hardship, inclusive, partial, or academic scholarships, not athletic scholarships. It has put the Ivy League model on it's head, and the Ivy league is in litigation over anti trust violations for not offering athletic scholarships by two Brown basketball players. I have not seen a ruling on the anti trust issues, but it will be another piece that will become relevant as we move forward.
