wow…grocery prices
the wife has the flu so i went to Safeway to get her some soup, ben & jerry’s and some other comfort food items to make her feel better.
look at this price..$72 for a bag of groceries …no wine, no medicine, ie none of those usual expensive items
wow…i was blown away

shopping and every month for about the past 2 years something (deli, fruit, bread, chips, etc.) continues to rise much higher than it was before as inflation continues to rear its ugly head. Locally, I've heard that many of the free food pantries are at all time highs in terms of people and families served and the pantries are struggling to keep up with demand. Not sure when and/or what will cause food inflation to level off.
And, what's even crazier, granted only one personal anecdote, my uncle is a dairy farmer and they are struggling to make ends meet. Milk prices for the farmers are extremely low. He even recently had 1/2 month of work where he made zero dollars because the cost for the milk truck to gather, transport and process his milk was higher than the price his milk was worth.

Lotta fast food meals over $10 now. Used to be $5 before the pandemic.
The inflationary impact on the working class seems far understated imo. Consumer staple inflation is through the roof.

Younger folks are starting to wake up to the consequences of the policies they thought they were in favor of. I've seen multiple YouTube clips recently with young people lamenting high taxes and the current insane cost of living. This isn't sustainable, and I think there is a rough road of unrest ahead.

Bezos, Gates, and politicians are selling stocks. I remember in 2005 -2008
I would mumble to myself, "Who is buying all of these houses?", but I was too busy to give it much thought.
It cost me dearly. I'm not busy now, and I give these signs a LOT of thought. The fan is turning at hi speed.

I keep a keen eye for when they put them on sale. They used to put them on sale every 3 or 4 months, but then decided they didn't need to put them on sale for several years. When they did put it on sale after 2-3 years, it was only on sale for a week. They limit customers to 2 boxes, so I ended up making three trips to Costco that week...lol

powder for s’mores flavor and vanilla ice cream- amazeballs. They were 25%+ off when I bought them on sale at Costco. I mix the powder with different items depending on mood- with skim milk, or nonfat Costco Greek unflavored yogurt, or oikos nonfat flavored yogurt, adding mango or banana, etc.
So much better than the premiere protein casein drinks, but those are handy on road trips or just in the car.
Google says there’s added benefit to mixing casein and whey together for protein digestion efficiency, so you might want to look at that as well.
Finally, I will always rather cook than clean- and in this case, make dessert for the fam- so taking these concoctions to the freezer make some healthy, flavorful, protein-full, frozen yogurt delicacies for the whole family…

Across the board, costs are up %50 or more. I don't know about you guys, but my salary hasn't increased by 50% over the past 4 years.
I drive a 23 year old vehicle and I do all of my own repairs and maintenance. We live in a small home with a very low mortgage payment. All in all, we try to live frugally. My wife and I both have decent paying jobs and are entering the "prime earning" part of our careers, and I feel absolutely blessed to have what we do, because we are in a far more stable place than the VAST majority of people in the world, and even moreso than many people in our own country. But it is a bit alarming to me how even we seem to barely have anything left over each month. We are not contributing nearly as much to our retirement savings as we should be, but we simply feel like we can't right now.
I know I'm not alone. There's a reason the song "Rich Men North of Richmond" blew up. People have had enough.
