Isn't that what Joe Pike drove?

I had an '18. Never gave me a single problem.
I loved it, was a great crossover. Have an X4 now, which I will say I like better, but I'd buy Range Rover again despite the reputation.

You’re the only person to give the RR a thumbs up.

I’d be curious how many actually owned one

My 2016 Toyota 4Runner just hit 130k
Miles, not dollars. It has a few minor scratches and dings, and I probably need a new set of brakes before this year's state inspection, but otherwise it runs and is as comfortable as the day I bought it. Anyone who passes over a conventional Toyota product for a luxury brand SUV deserves all the expense and trouble that comes with it.
JKHokie-RunFor32 JKHokie-RunFor32 OP
Appreciate the feedback…just don’t like Toyotas.

Bitter much?
B

That wasn't bitter. TG just spoke truth....
T

I'm not bitter at all. I made a wise investment and am happy with it.
M

That's great. Why must you begrudge others who prefer a little luxury?
T
Tailgate Guru
I don’t begrudge them. I just think they are foolish.

The SUV equivalent of the

Don't count on a range rover for long term reliability

Have had a Range Rover sport for 4 years
No problems and lots of fun to drive.

My Mercedes mechanic also fixes RRs
He said, “lease don’t buy, they only hold up 3 years”

Had a friend with one. Lived in the shop under warranty. He got rid of it
before the warranty ran out. Buyer beware.

Range Rovers suck
Victor Tango Victor Tango
They have a Ford Escape engine
At least that is what my friend who owns a RR Evoque tells me when he *****es about it being in the shop. No RR dealership where we live so his mechanic just uses whatever is needed to fix the Ford. He has buyers remorse.
vthokieq vthokieq
How old is it? I think Ford sold Jaguar/Land Rover around 2008...
...and stopped sourcing engines to Land Rover around 2015 when Land Rover started producing their own engines.
Victor Tango Victor Tango
No idea, but looks newer than a '15 model
It's been nothing but a headache for him, but he keeps it because it's paid for!

You're laser focused on spending a lot for an SUV? Have you looked at
Acura? Maybe not as prestigious as the stuff you keep asking about but it won't break down, has lots of comfort features and is cheaper to maintain.
JKHokie-RunFor32 JKHokie-RunFor32 OP
Pre-owned. Looking at 2018-2021 range.
JoesterVT JoesterVT
Don't think many '18 Range Rovers are still on the road....lol
meanwhile....a 2018 4Runner with 100K miles will have just about completed it's break-in period and be ready for action....
JKHokie-RunFor32 JKHokie-RunFor32 OP
Most mileage is well below 100k.
UTPr0sim UTPr0sim
Yeah because they are in the shop so much. If you buy one after this
thread. You deserve the fun...LOL

It was a joke. Just pointing out the utterly awful the track record.

Truth. My Yukon was bought when my freshman Hokie was 1 month old. Still

I have thought about getting an older Yukon when my Highlander dies. They
are relatively inexpensive and good for towing much heavier loads than the Highlander. The drunk mechanic beside one of our rental properties swears they are the best UVs out there he had over 270,000 on his but of course when he is somewhat sober he can fix any issue. ** Edited by jdkhokie at 2/13/2024, 11:08:03 AM

just have to research which years to avoid...
bigbadbird bigbadbird
i have an 03 that still rolls smooth- missing a little paint
but when the college children run into to trouble with there newer ones- they know the white whale is there waiting to shine
Vtskier1 Vtskier1
My '07 is called the Big Pig...and needs paint. That & the blown rear main
seal at around 130K. I liked my 01 Tahoe better, but right now it is much cheaper to maintain the big pig vs buying a new one.
HokieDan95 HokieDan95
I don't know about that. Chevy has downed their game
bigbadbird bigbadbird
well maybe- i see alot of 4runners out there- but alot of rolling old
suburbans also
