Rutgers since joining the big whatever is 500 million in deficit spending.
In a big ol hole is what that means. Folks this crap hole the powers that be had created is not in any way sustainable. It will implode at some point

Bill Cosby was substantially subsidizing their FB program back in the day
Doubt he's chipping in much these days. >8-}

Losses like that are not sustainable unless of course NJ tax payers are
footing a large part of the bill. In this age, that is very possible.

Rutgers still isn't getting full revenue share from the BIG10.
At least that was my understanding. That coupled with increased travel costs, cost of attendance, NIL, and all of the other ever-rising costs are a perfect storm.

They aren't earning full revenue share either

RUTGERS was a Big 10 play for New York market (and got it)
Rutgers market is New york, the largest Media market, 1 percent of the viewers of New york region is bigger than 20 percent of the richmond region. When Big East expanded, it was all about markets to their media rights. Big 10 knew Rutgers was a loss leader and just fine to invest in a loss leader. Maryland was the same, (even big 10 gave them a loan to help the buy out from the ACC, but Bottom line Big 10 has the DMV market, now they have LA market, NY Phily and DMV market. Rutgers from public affairs changed their perception. Its Branding (which is not in an audit sheet) is signficant

Who watches Rutgers sports in NY?
Virtually no one.

To Media it doesnt matter
Rutgers is Big 10 corporation, so since Rutgers is in the NE, the networks see the Big 10 owning the NY City market. As someone else told me, ..5 percent of the NYC market is still bigger than most of the smaller markets combined. (Also I question Rutgers as well).. They also got in because at the time of expansion, a big executive for Fox/CBS sports was a Rutgers grad, and he got a job either as the commisioner of hte Big 10 or associate AD. He had enough of influence to get Rutgers in....Tony Soprano at work.

To begin with...
...Rutgers is in NJ. NYC looks down their noses at anything Joisey. Rutgers has too much competition from the Giants, Jets, Yankees, Mets, Knicks, Nets, Rangers and Islanders. .

Agree.
NYC is a pro sports town, just like Boston, Philly, DMV……

Didn't matter. It was who COULD watch, not who actually watched.

The B1G is now in.......
those markets but, to say it "has" those markets, especially the DMV, is a stretch.

That's why the ACC should put the CG in DC after RFK Stadium II is done.
The ACC is the conference of the mid-Atlantic. Let's start acting like it.

Like ACC has the Boston market.

Has anybody ever said......
the ACC "has" the Boston market or do they say the ACC is "in" the Boston market?

The idea was to get the market. Unfortunately BC didn't.
In other words, if BC wasn't in the ACC, the TV deal wouldn't take a hit.

Actually it would ....
take a hit as geographic presence not market share was the determinant of in state carriage rates and a significant piece of the network deal.
