Rutgers is Big 10 corporation, so since Rutgers is in the NE, the networks see the Big 10 owning the NY City market. As someone else told me, ..5 percent of the NYC market is still bigger than most of the smaller markets combined. (Also I question Rutgers as well).. They also got in because at the time of expansion, a big executive for Fox/CBS sports was a Rutgers grad, and he got a job either as the commisioner of hte Big 10 or associate AD. He had enough of influence to get Rutgers in....Tony Soprano at work.
