Just saw an article that said SEC makes intensions clear - they want it
all. Talks of SEC leaving the NCAA. My granddaddy used to say pigs get fat, but hogs get slaughtered. Hope he proves to be prophetic.

What the B12 needs to understand is that the SEC and B10 do not give a flying F about anything but their revenue, period, end of debate. If they could add a few schools and create two super conferences and the rest of the college sports world just disappeared, they would still sleep well at night. It's every man for himself.

If it didn't, then that's fine too.
I'd be VERY content to let them have their own pro-league, and the remaining 60-70 schools can get back to college football. What we have now is a bastardized semi-pro league that has forgotten where it came from.

...they need the fanbases of the other 70+ teams to continue to watch their product in order for their revenues to continue to grow. If they give those fanbases the finger by excluding their teams from their super league, I expect many of those fans to return the gesture and refuse to tune in. It wouldn't happen all at once, but I expect a super league would lead to a long, slow death for the sport.

....the superconference in any sport. Non-football and hoops sports are already being decimated. As long as the supers can make their $$$........

You could see this coming for quite some time now. Might work, might not. If it doesn't, the SEC - and the college athletics enterprise as a whole - may not recover.

Less coverage, interest, less everything.

The sooner we can get back to some version of college football, the better.

B10 . 30 - 40 schools and then all the rest of us fighting desperately for the leftover crumbs.

The unfortunate fact is that VT football took a nose dive at the worst possible time. And it will be much harder now to climb back out and get that coverage, interest, and money.

The ACC is going to get the squeeze. Best part is the ACC TV numbers will get even worse due to being on the Ocho at midnight on a Wednesday, and the next TV deal will be straight garbage.
OTOH, ABC/ESPN is going to show what they know will get viewers. So plenty of blame goes to the ACC.

Then they can play each other, and have their own separate playoff between those two conferences.

I'm all for them leaving. I won't watch. I don't watch anything other than the ACCN or whatever is showing ACC games. I am willing to buy the VT package......

breakaway, coverage of those schools will drop to next to nothing. Much like FCS is now.

Will look like d2 or d3 compared to P2 or FBS as top players and coaches concentrate more into p2 for the big bucks. It's already happened, but will get worse. Ten years ago we had some possibility of beating Bama. Today it would look like varsity vs jv and will get worse. We can't buy OT's or qb's now. Some of that is just VT and how it chooses not to compete. Going forward there won't be a choice. JV it is.
